Its been slowing down lately I barely go online for anything but Grad Theft Auto San Andreas Online with SA-MP
but lately it seems like my PC is taking up alot of RAM to run it

thanks in advance
Peter Encalada
Hi welcome to the forum. I don't really see any malware, but you are using the wrong version of HJT (hijackthis) for Vista.

From what I can see, you have AVG antvirus installed and what appears to be the remnants of Norton (Symantec). If Norton isn't fully removed, it's quite possible a conflict between it and AVG will occur. This may explain your symptoms. We'll explore that avenue and see where it takes us.

Let's start with replacing your copy of HJT with the current one.

Click this link to download and replace your copy of HJT (hijackthis) with the current version. This version is the correct one for Vista.
http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/_d…/HiJackThis.exe

  • On the download box click Save
  • Next set the Save in box to C:\Program Files\Hijackthis
  • Click Save
  • You will get a warning similar to "This file all ready exists, do you want to replace it?"
  • Click Yes or Replace, which ever applies

Now go to this site and download and run the Norton removal tool.

http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgen…005033108162039

On that page, please find and click the link for your version of Norton. On the next page, scroll down to to step 3 and follow the instructions for running the tool.

Please post back afterwards with a new HJT log and tell me how your computer is running.

Thanks
Okay I see a Nice Difference in Performance now that Norton Is correctly removed
also, GameTap updater on there is there a way to get rid of that I do not use Game Tap anymore

thanks for the help people

It's nice to see that thing's have improved. We can tidy up your HJT log and have a look to see if anything snuck in when we weren't looking.

You have a program, Nero Scout, running at startup which can be a big drain on resources. Unless you, and I quote, "are a hard-core user of all of Nero's programs, Nero Scout is a useless piece of software bloat." It can be safely disabled without adversely effecting Nero.
http://www.systemlookup.com/lists.php?list…B10AA%7D&s=
http://www.help2go.com/Tutorials/Software_…_in_Nero_7.html

If you wish to stop Nero Scout from starting at startup, please follow the instructions in the above link to disable it from within the program. Then add this line to the HJT fix only if you are disabling Nero Scout.

Close all other browsers/windows, click fix checked, close HJT

As a Vista user, you will need to right click these programs and "run as administrator"

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.

  • Right click and run as adminstrator ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser
  • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

If you use Opera browser
  • Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Note: your computer may boot a little slower the first couple of times.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Right Click and run as adminstrator mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Please post back with the MBAM log and new HJT log.

Thanks
