Hi and welcome to the forum. :D

Step # 1

Please download and run CWShredder. Make sure that all browser windows are closed with the exception of Cwshredder and choose FIX.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?…7fd6b3ff02edc90

REBOOT

Step #2

Please download and run Spybot 1.4 & AdAware SE Then follow the instructions in the link below to run.

Spybot & Adaware Tutorial

REBOOT

Step # 3

Then do a virus scan here >>> Trend Micro

Step # 4

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan.

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.
Thank you for the reply. I have followed all of the steps & I have attached the scan from ewido. I noticed that Ewido seems to utilize most of the cpu & the system idle process is 0 until I shut down Ewido then the machine seems to respond reasonably well with system idle process being the dominant process. ——————————————————— ewido security suite - Scan report ——————————————————— + Created on: 10:46:36 PM, 9/14/2005 + Report-Checksum: C975C62D + Scan result: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{07B18EA9-A523-4961-B6BB-170DE4475CCA} -> Spyware.MyWebSearch : Cleaned with backup HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{2B96D5CC-C5B5-49A5-A69D-CC0A30F9028C} -> Spyware.MiniBug : Cleaned with backup HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{00A6FAF1-072E-44cf-8957-5838F569A31D} -> Spyware.MyWebSearch : Cleaned with backup C:\Documents and Settings\Dad\Cookies\dad@2o7[1].txt -> Spyware.Cookie.2o7 : Cleaned with backup C:\Documents and Settings\Dad\Cookies\dad@advertising[2].txt -> Spyware.Cookie.Advertising : Cleaned with backup C:\Documents and Settings\Dad\Cookies\dad@burstnet[2].txt -> Spyware.Cookie.Burstnet : Cleaned with backup C:\Documents and Settings\Dad\Cookies\[removed][1].txt -> Spyware.Cookie.Advertising : Cleaned with backup C:\Documents and Settings\Dad\Cookies\[removed][2].txt -> Spyware.Cookie.Burstbeacon : Cleaned with backup C:\Documents and Settings\Krista\Cookies\[removed][2].txt -> Spyware.Cookie.Yieldmanager : Cleaned with backup C:\Documents and Settings\Krista\Cookies\[removed][1].txt -> Spyware.Cookie.Specificclick : Cleaned with backup C:\Documents and Settings\Krista\Cookies\krista@adorigin[2].txt -> Spyware.Cookie.Adorigin : Cleaned with backup C:\Documents and Settings\Krista\Cookies\[removed][1].txt -> Spyware.Cookie.Euniverseads : Cleaned with backup C:\Documents and Settings\Krista\Cookies\krista@com[1].txt -> Spyware.Cookie.Com : Cleaned with backup C:\Documents and Settings\Krista\Cookies\[removed][2].txt -> Spyware.Cookie.Burstbeacon : Cleaned with backup C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar\1.bin\F3CJPEG.DLL -> Spyware.MyWebSearch : Cleaned with backup C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar\1.bin\F3HISTSW.DLL -> Spyware.MyWebSearch : Cleaned with backup C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar\1.bin\F3HTMLMU.DLL -> Spyware.MyWebSearch : Cleaned with backup C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar\1.bin\F3POPSWT.DLL -> Spyware.MyWebSearch : Cleaned with backup C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar\1.bin\F3PSSAVR.SCR -> Spyware.MyWebSearch : Cleaned with backup C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar\1.bin\F3REPROX.DLL -> Spyware.Wesbar : Cleaned with backup C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar\1.bin\F3RESTUB.DLL -> Spyware.MyWebSearch : Cleaned with backup C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar\1.bin\F3SCHMON.EXE -> Spyware.MyWebSearch : Cleaned with backup C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar\1.bin\F3WPHOOK.DLL -> Spyware.Wesbar : Cleaned with backup C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar\1.bin\M3OUTLCN.DLL -> Spyware.MyWebSearch : Cleaned with backup C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar\1.bin\M3SKIN.DLL -> Spyware.MyWebSearch : Cleaned with backup C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\bar\1.bin\MWSOESTB.DLL -> Spyware.MyWebSearch : Cleaned with backup C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\SrchAstt\1.bin\MWSSRCAS.DLL -> Spyware.MyWebSearch : Cleaned with backup C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-957491318-1779497036-2445993930-1008\Dc1.EXE -> Spyware.Wesbar : Cleaned with backup C:\System Volume Information\_restore{B37680B2-BA0A-4E5D-BF30-83E44C588624}\RP3\A0000662.dll -> Spyware.WildTangent : Cleaned with backup C:\System Volume Information\_restore{B37680B2-BA0A-4E5D-BF30-83E44C588624}\RP3\A0000677.dll -> Spyware.WildTangent : Cleaned with backup C:\Temp\backups\backup-20050826-142308-707.dll -> Spyware.MyWebSearch : Cleaned with backup C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\f3PSSavr.scr -> Spyware.MyWebSearch : Cleaned with backup

Siqqyx,
Thank you for your help. After doing everything you suggested the machine was still slow. I found a similar problem that someone else had & it turned out that Dell had a patch that had to be applied after XP Service Pack 2 is applied. The patch was
http://search.dell.com/results.aspx?cat=al…n&cs=&k=1090723

Immediately after applying the system was fine.
Thanks again for all of your help in cleaning up the machine & will try to be diligent in keeping it clean.
