I am running ISS's RealSecure Desktop protector (aka BlackIce) on this computer. I note that whenever I start a new topic in these forums, I get a "High Risk alarm":

2110056 : Microsoft Internet Explorer HTML conversion library buffer overflow

Anybody know why or what, if anything, I should do about that?
Well, according to ISS.net, your system is behind in updates.

I urge you to purge your system of clutter using Windows [XP / Vista] Disk Cleanup, ATF Cleaner or CCleaner. If you use CCleaner, then during installation, uncheck the option to install the Yahoo toolbar and before first use, go to Options > Settings > Advanced and ensure Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours is unchecked.

Note: Ensure you know your site credentials (user name and password) for sites you frequent before cleaning; you may have to login again at next visit.

Then download, install, update, and run Malwarebytes's Anti-Malware (MBAM) to ensure your system is free of malware. Then do the same for all other computers on your network (everything on your side of the Internet gateway, typically a cable/DSL modem).

Once clean, update Windows then let us know what it happening.
Thanks for your reply. However, if I'm not mistaken the alarm is telling me that something external to my system is attempting to take advantage of this vulnerability, without regard to whether or not the appropriate update has been applied to correct the vulnerability. In this case, the "something external" is geek13.geekstogo.com (see attached screenshot). In any event, I routinely run CCleaner, most recently this morning just before I logged into the forum. All of my systems are set to download and install Microsoft updates automatically. This particular system is fully up to date up through and including SP3. All of my systems are running up-to-date antivirus and malware programs. This is the only system running Desktop Protector, because I use this system for work and it is a company requirement. My entire home network is on a router with a built-in firewall, which is properly configured and which allows only the outbound connections that I have defined.
