Are there any simple safe programs for getting a list of running processes on a computer I would prefer not to use HJT as it's hard to access just that and Smitfraudfix wants to wipe out the Hosts file and reset the clock to military time
Hello DaChew

Yes there is, I think SIW.exe far out strips Everest Home Edition for all System Specifications, but that is only my opinion. You will see Running Processes on the left after you download the free version.

kind regards,
I like SIW too, for system information - and a whole lot more. The below are all enhanced Task Manager type programs that will show you what is running on your computer. Each is nice in its own way. What's Running is probably the easiest, with AutoRuns for the more experienced, and Process Explorer the most popular. With these, for example, you can see what processes are using each of those various svchost.exe images.

AutoRuns for Windows
Process Explorer
What's Running

Well the simplest one is the one you already have on your computer. Just press Ctrl + Alt + Del, some of the other programs listed though can make doing things to the processes easier and more efficient. However I don't know anybody who uses other programs (besides some of the people on this forum) as the Windows Task Manager works fine.
