[Resolved] Falling Asleep while pages load - SLOW!

Hmmm - a little strangeness - Did what you said - above - in the HJT log I ran first - a few of the boxes were not on the log to check "fix"
the three 023's, and I think the R3 for Earthlink Total Access - sorry, should have made a note.
Still slow booting back up - a couple of stalled white screens - but what is strange - my TOTAL ACCESS Mailbox is still here, and icon on the desktop - and mail I left in it still there (arrgghhh! as it took hours to transfer it! but that's fine - needed to go somewhere else)
And….my homepage which has always been My Earthlink net - reset itself to MSN com. It's now back to Earthlink - and I checked the main EL WEBmail and it's still there.

So it seems that Earthlink Total Access program is still hanging around. It needs to go. It was downloaded a few years ago and I later realized it really works best for a dial-up account. By then - so much was wrapped around it it was difficult to remove.

Earthlink Total Access is still in program files - 39.8 MB of it! I left it for now til you tell me what next.

PS - Pages are loading faster - Still have this white screen though right at first - when I either type an address or click on a favorite. But then, it's been much faster once I get to the site I choose.

There is no - just "earthlink total access" in control panel. I am going to remove: Earthlink Lite Scanner Earthlink Setup Earthlink software Earthlink Webspace Earthlink Wireless High Speed ok - in preparation to do the big…remove…Earthlink gives a choice, in case you did not know this: You can save profile info You can save Earthlink Mailbox (stored mail and contacts…arrrgghhh) You can save IE Favorites - which I have no idea what this means,even with their explanation - so I'm going to NOT check to delete this just in case it is my main Favorites list. (teeth clenched and eyes shut here..) Need to restart. Will post a new log in a second.

All the Earthlink items in the above email, are still in the control panel add/remove programs.
Should I do a manual remove of them somewhere else?
Earthlink lite-scanner box opened when I restarted and froze on the desktop - in a partial piece of the window. It would not close. Went to Task Manager to end and it went away.
Home page was again reset to MSN - I went back to regular Earthlink Site - which is just "my earthlink" page and re-entered it as my homepage. They call it My Start Page - and it should have nothing to do with Earthlink Total Access. Don't understand why it keeps resetting. Pages are loading very fast on other sites! This is a good thing!

One strange thing today - and had never heard of it - I had problems accessing my bank account on line - and two other sites where I had to link back to my bank account - Like in a license renewal on line - when it got to where I submitted my payment - it just HUNG and never acknowledged my payment went through. Same with another site. I called my bank, and they eventually found that my META REFRESH had been disabled? Had never heard of this. I enabled it again - and could then access accounts. I read on Google what this was. What did we do that would have caused this problem? Should it be solved now?

PS - In going to Control Panel - Add/Remove - clicking on Earthlink Lite-Scanner to remove again - got error message popup that said Wise Uninstall Could not open INSTALL.LOG file. with OK button - Could get nothing in control panel to respond to mouse click, including the X close box. Could only close it by Rclick on the bottom.
