Hi,
in the last month my PC has developed a really sluggish behaviour, and it will also no longer read memory card from a card reader.
I've seen from running procexp.exe that the sluggishness is caused by F-Secure using up all CPU capacity, for long periods. Especially if I open a new software or open a new webpage.
I've had a mail communication going with F-Secure technical support since about three weeks. We've tried re-installing, upgrading to newer version, etc., and we've turned off F-Secure features one by one to try isolate the issue.
All that's clear is that it's the real time searching (I hope that's the right description ?. My installation is in Swedish language) that is the killer. What F-Secure can't do is to explain why I've been getting this problem now, but not before when I've been using the F-Secure software for years without issues.
At the same time I've realized that another issue developed, which I also haven't had before. I use a card reader to download my jpg files from the camera card, and it's worked great until a couple of weeks ago. Suddently Explorer reports that the card is not formatted, and suggest to format. I then put the card back in the camera and connected the camera directly, and then the downloading works just fine.
So first thought was to check the card reader. I got a new card reader, but Explorer still insist it wants to format the card.
I've tried other cards, even different types of cards, all with the same result.
I've subsequently tried to format cards, as suggested by Explorer, and the formatting seems to go OK, up until the very end, when it justr reports that the formatting could not be finalized. I've let the camera format cards, but the result is the same. PC won't read it.
It seems that my PC for some reason does not accept reading memory cards from any card reader any more
Are my issues with sluggish performance somehow connected to the card reading issue? Is my PC infected in spite of running F-Secure ?
I've realized that F-Secure probably can't solve my problem.
If anyone on this forum has had the same experience or can offer any suggstons I'd be very grateful
