Hello,

I am having a problem with a malicious program that keeps popping up whenever I use my computer. A window pops up and says:

"Windows Security Alert"
"Windows Firewall has detected activity of harmful software.
Name: Trojan-Spy.HTML.Bankfraud.dq
Risk Level: CRITICAL
Description: This Trojan is an email designed as a phishing attack, which steals information from Regions Bank customers. The email appears to be an important communication from the bank"
"Enable protection?"

…see attached JPEG of the window that pops up.

I tried clicking on "Enable protection" and it bumped to a website selling what appears to be bogus spyware software.

I cannot get rid of this malicious program, can you help me please? I followed the instructions and have a Hijack This log:

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here and save it to your Desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • Ensure a checkmark is placed next to both Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version - you'll need to clear it with your firewall.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan and then Scan.
  • When the scan has finished, click OK and then Show Results to view the results - no surprise there!
  • If MBAM finds anything, check the box(es) and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
Let me have the MBAM log, a fresh HJT log (run in Normal Mode) AND a description of how your PC is behaving.

Also, run HJT and click on Open the Misc Tools section.
  • Click Open Uninstall Manager…
  • Click Save list… and save it to your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste the file uninstall_list.txt into your next reply.

Thanks for your advice. I looked over the files in the Hijack This log and noticed that one of them was a 'new' file dated around the time that the problem started: O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [shcommon] C:\WINDOWS\system32\hyjghyvc.exe I checked the box for this file and clicked "Fix This" and the problem is solved. I also ran Malwarebytes to clean up other stuff on my computer. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!
