Hi….I have been having some major problems with my computer. My boot screen as well as my desktop have all been changed from what I had them (the Windows boot screen is TOTALLY wrong ) to a bright blue screen and there is a pop-up that I can't get off my screen that tells me my system is infected and to run anti-virus. I also have a problem with the search screen for my computer popping up and it flickers and I can't get it to shut down…..and no I didn't push search at all.
I ran windows defender in safe mode and had 5 infections but it said they were removed. The name was VirTool:WinNT/tibs.gen!A
My computer after reboot still had problems . I ran trendmicro rootkit and it came back with 5 hidden files that it can't remove.
I ran TrendMicro housecall and came back with 11 infections…it removed all but 1 and that was JOKE_BLUESCREEN
My computer keeps telling me I have a criticle error and it shuts itself off and then restarts. I am at a total loss please advise me as what to do. Thanks!

hi sparkynsquid,

ok we will start with hjt then boot to safe mode. then get a download to use.

you should copy/paste the safe mode part into notepad and save it so you can read it in safe mode:

first to show all files you can do this

FOr XP: on the desktop double click my computer,at the top click on> tools>folder options>view> then select "show hidden files and folders", then UNcheck "hide protected operating system files " also UNcheck "hide extensions for known file types" click apply to all folders, apply then ok

next: hjt:

start HJT, click the "Scan" button. check the items below, close any open windows, then click "Fixed checked"

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [lphcc9dj0e595] C:\WINDOWS\system32\lphcc9dj0e595.exe

next: boot to safe mode;
to reach safe mode you would tap the f8 key during a computer restart, chose the first option from the list: safe mode
once at the safe mode desk top;

safe mode part:

navigate to:
C:\WINDOWS\system32
look for and delete lphcc9dj0e595.exe if found

also do this:
Click Start>Run then type %temp%
Hit OK. Delete all the files you can.

click Start>Run then type %windir%\temp
hit ok. delete all the files you can

Empty your Temp folders. Go to Start > Run and type:cleanmgr. Windows will scan. When done check these 3 and press *ok* to remove:

Temporary Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin

reboot normally, download malwarebytes:

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop:

http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt

post the malwarebytes log and a new hjt log
Ok I am a little cofused so I thought I had better ask before I do anything just to make sure what you need me to do. 1) Change folder options to show all hidden files and extensions 2) Run HJT select fix checked …..do I need to save the log from this run to post or skip and go to where you want me to open in safe mode?? Thanks in advance for clarifying for me….I just want to be sure to do this right!
hi sparkynsquid, 1) correct 2)run hjt and fix that one item: start HJT, click the "Scan" button. check the items below, close any open windows, then click "Fixed checked" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [lphcc9dj0e595] C:\WINDOWS\system32\lphcc9dj0e595.exe thats it ….close hjt…… boot into safe mode to see if you can find the one exe and to clean up your temp files. reboot normally after you are done with the safe mode part …… get and run malwarebytes. post the malwarebytes log and the last thing: rescan and post a new hjt log thats it. if you have any more questions post away.
