my symantec has been detecting multiple Trojan Horse, all with the name DWH####.tmp in the temp folder, and they are either quarantined or partially removed. these are usually detected several at a time, and i think this occurs everytime i let symantec download files to try to removed already quarantined trojans.
i have symantec antivirus 10.1.6.6000 and spyware doctor 6.0.0.362
any help?

Hello decipherfreak

Welcome to the Whatthetech Malware Removal Forum Sorry for the delay in responding but with the amount of people posting with infected computers there are not enough hours in the day.

Open up Symantec and go to the Quarantine folder and remove it all.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune to your desktop.
  • This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
Your system may start up slower after running ATF Cleaner, this is expected but will be back to normal after the first or second boot up
Please note: If you use online banking or are registered online with any other organizations, ensure you have memorized password and other personal information as removing cookies will temporarily disable the auto-login facility.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. <– Don't forget to do this
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a New Hijackthis log.
when i try to install/run the malware program there is a error vbAccelerator SGrid II Control run-time error '0' and then Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware run-time error '440': automation error i tried reinstalling it, same thing
Try this one.

Please download SuperAntiSpyware Free
Install the program
  • Run SuperAntiSpyware and click: Check for updates
  • Once the update is finished, on the main screen, click: Scan your computer
  • Check: Perform Complete Scan
  • Click Next to start the scan.
Superantispyware scans the computer, and when finished, lists all the infections found.
Make sure everything found has a check next to it, and press: Next <– Important
Then, click Finish

It is possible that the program asks to reboot in order to delete some files.

Obtain the SuperAntiSpyware log as follows:
  • Click: Preferences
  • Click the Statistics/Logs tab
  • Under Scanner Logs, double-click SuperAntiSpyware Scan Log
It opens in your default text editor (such as Notepad)

Please provide the SuperAntiSpyware log in your reply, as well as a new HijackThis log.
when restarting after using the antispyware, my computer did a system scan for compatibility. and now hp wireless assistant is not compatible so i cant see my wireless (on the bar) and network connections (under control panel), though i still have internet.

also, i can no longer log onto the other account on this computer (this one is admin, other is not), it says the profile cannot be loaded

and, it keeps saying symantec antivirus needs to close, but it still stays open.

Hello,

You may have some other issues on this computer that are not malware related. If you look at your SAS log, all it removed where 5 advertising cookies, it did not remove anything that would cause you an issue like your having. Why don't you uninstall SAS, we won't need it any longer.

Here is some info on the 404 error you get .
http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000380.htm

Open HijackThis > Do a System Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows including this one, the only program or window you should have open is HijackThis, check the following entries and click on Fix Checked.

O23 - Service: Viewpoint Manager Service - Viewpoint Corporation - C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Common\ViewpointService.exe

Go to your Add Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall Viewpoint, it installs without your knowledge or consent, uses system resources and basically is not needed for anything.

The rest of your log looks fine and SAS did not find anything, if you cleaned out the Quanantine folder and ran ATF Cleaner all those bad files should be gone.

Why don't you post here for windows issues, they are better equipped to help you , we just do malware removal on this forum

after doing the hijackthis fix and restarting, my computer really got messed up. now i dont have internet at all and i cannot access any of the files on my computer, so i cant even back them up. i will have to reformat. do you think the age of the laptop is a factor? because i have had this laptop for about 5 years, although i have reformatted once or twice. or is it a problem with the protection i am using? i use spyware doctor and symantec antivirus.
Good Morning, Like I said you are having some windows issues on this system. Uninstalling Viewpoint has nothing to do with internet access. A five year old computer should still be running ok. You mentioned that you have reformatted a couple of times before, wondering if you may not have done a good install of windows, if your unsure of any of the procedures for formatting and reinstalling windows you may want to seek some help to make sure its done correctly. You can post in one of the forums I linked you to for expert help. The tools we have run should be helping your system but they not, its possible your hard drive is failing but that's not department so you would be better off posting for answers Good luck, Ken
