Downloaded an active X control after I ran Mcafee against it and it was malware and the M didn't pick it up.

Have taken the system back to a restore point prior to the download, but would like to get the thing out of my system.

Prior to taking the system back to a previous restore point, the malware wouldn't let me come to this site or any other tech assist site like Mcafee support or windows or as i said this one. I can now go to these sites, but would like to get the malware outahere thanks.

Please find below the hijack this log for help in solving my problem:

Good Morning,

Logs look good  Are you still being redirected ??

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune to your desktop.
  • This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
Your system may start up slower after running ATF Cleaner, this is expected but will be back to normal after the first or second boot up
Please note: If you use online banking or are registered online with any other organizations, ensure you have memorized password and other personal information as removing cookies will temporarily disable the auto-login facility.
thanks alot………..not still being redirected, but at some websites cant get the java to work……..works in firefox but shuts firefox down when I go to x out a cam?? Java will not run in ie7 and dont have the java icon in my control panel yet the program shows up in my add/remove window and my program files???……….have removed and reloaded java but still have same probs. How are you at fixing java problems; been to there website and no joy!!! Do I still need the atf cleaner if no more redirects?
Hi,

I am not seeing any Java installed on your computer, you can try this.

  • Your Java is out of date and leaving your system vulnerable.
  • Go to your Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall any previous versions of Java (J2SE Runtime Environment)
  • It should have an icon next to it:
    [external image: Posted Image]
    Select it and click Remove.
  • Reboot your system.
  • Then go to the Sun Microsystems and install the update
  • Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 7 <–This is what you need to download and install.
  • If you chose the online installation, it will prompt you to run the program.
  • If you chose the offline installation, you will be prompted to save the file and you can run it from wherever you saved it.
  • Then after install you can verify your installation here Sun Java Verify
I like to to do the offline installation and save the setup file in case I may need it in the future

ATF Cleaner is just a system cleaner written by one of our own guys, it will clean out temp files and such that tend to clog up your system, won't hurt to run it now and then

  • How did I get infected in the first place ? Read these links and find out how to prevent getting infected again.
  • Tutorial for System Restore <– Do this first to prevent yourself from being reinfected.

Did as you suggested the uninstall of Java and then the reinstall, and still have the same problem as before with ie7, but appears to have fixed the problem in firefox.

For some reason the ie7 just doesnt get it……..? Apparently the problem is getting ie7 to recognize the Java app. Java icon still doesnt show up in my control panel, but I know its on the system cause as i said it java runs in firefox. Any thoughts I am running on empty?

Hello,

This is a set up file for a very outdated version of Java so remove it with HJT.
O16 - DPF: {8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93} - http://javadl-esd.sun.com/update/1.5.0/jin…indows-i586.cab

Go to Start > Control Panel ( up at the top left , make sure your in Classic View ) and open Java.
Then look for a tab that says cache and choose clear cache.
( Newer version might have delete Temporary Internet files, delete them)
Do that for every Java icon, if there is more than one.

Then try downloading and installing the new version again via my prior links and instructions

If still a no go than you can try posting in there forum for help as we do not get into windows issues on this forum , we just do malware and virus removal

Ken…….. did the above and now java wont run in Firefox either let alone ie7……so tried to take it back to a prior restore point and no joy

Went to the sun site you recommended and was told that it was a developers forum and would have to look elsewhere…..terrrific

Tried to take the system back to a restore point when Firefox worked and couldnt find it with all the removing and adding of java.

so lets start over and try to get java to at least work in Firefox like it was. It seems as though the system needs that 016 java line, but not really sure. For you info I dont have a java icon in my control panel, but do in add/remove.

Put the 016 line back in as firefox wouldnt work without it it seemed; and as i said neither firefox or ie7 will work with java. the point I am making is that with the 016 line in worked, took it out didnt, put it back in, now java works in neither, but dont know if it is related to 016 or not cause there were other steps followed and dont know which one of the last that you gave me killed java in firefox.
