Windows no longer loads on my Mac

I am a long time windows person that recently (8 months ago) crossed over to the Mac world. I have an IMac running 10.5 and windows xp (just can't go cold turkey…must have my windows). Everything has worked well since purchasing the computer, until yesterday, when I updated XP to SP3 and then installed Search 4.0. Everything worked great. At the end of the day, I shut it down. Today, when trying to boot for the first time since these software installations, windows would not boot. I get the welcome screen, but it never proceeds beyond that point. I booted in safe mode so that I could restore to a point prior to the SP3 and search 4.0 installations. Thought that would solve the problem. Nope. Still won't boot. I am running AVG free and Zonealarm free. I have 3 fire-wire drives connected. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
