[Closed] Help with my dad's PC please

Greetings! I am trying to help my dad with his very slow computer. I had him get a log file for me which I am attaching. Any help or guidance is much appreciated! Cheers! Still hoping to get a reply after 1 week. Thanks!

Trying to do this via 3rd party doesn't work. You either need to have the pc in your hands or have your Dad register and post the HJT log. BTW, you need to copy/paste the log, not attach it.

Thank you for your kind reply. I fully agree that 3rd party would be difficult. Had I got a response on how to proceed I was going to drive over to his house and work directly on his system. My dad is elderly and would not be able to follow the instructions were he to register and post his own log. I talked him through getting the highjackthis log over the phone and it was painful. Given that I will perform any repairs suggested myself inperson I am hopeful that someone will help me out. So I copy and past his log here.

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.


1.Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2.Next, open Add/Remove Programs and remove if listed:
MyWaySA


Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a checkmark/tick in the box on the left side on these:

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"



Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.


Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Thank you so much for your kind assistance. I have traveled to my dad's house to work on his system. I followed your instructions with the following exception: after removing the program MyWaySA a message box said that the program would not be complete until reboot. So I rebooted. I believe that because of the reboot at this point in the process I was not able to find 2 of the HJT entries I was supposed to check (R3 - URLSearchHook and 02 - BHO: (no name) - {4D25F921…}). Other than that everything went smoothly and the system appears to be responding faster. We will test run it several times over the next day or so to get a better idea of performance. Once again, thanks for your help. My dad and I really appreciate your efforts.

Yes I was able to run ATF Cleaner eventually. Due to the unplanned reboot I mentioned in my last post I was not connected to the internet when I got to that step. So rather than log in to the forum again I just googled ATF Cleaner to find the program. I was able to find the correct web site but each time I tried to run the cleaner it went into not responding mode. When I logged into the forum again and used the hyper link you had provided it worked perfectly the first time. I am back home now and have asked my parents to cycle the system a few times this evening and let me know what they think about the preformance. Thanks again for your help!
