Hello,

I would do a couple of things.

You need to enable windows to show all files and folders, instructions Here

Go to VirusTotal and submit this file for analysis, just use the browse feature and then Send File, you will get a report back, post the report into this thread for me to see.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\netrax06\netrax061083.exe

Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.
  • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post the Combofix log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

The combofix wouldn't run the first few times I tried it. It was saying that it wasn't a valid WIN32 app.

Thanks again for your continued help!

Its a pleasure helping you

C:\WINDOWS\system32\netrax06 <-- Delete this folder, let me know if it will not delete

  • Your Java is out of date and leaving your system vulnerable.
  • Go to your Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall any previous versions of Java (J2SE Runtime Environment)
  • It should have an icon next to it:
    Posted Image
    Select it and click Remove.
  • Reboot your system.
  • Then go to the Sun Microsystems and install the update
  • Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 6 <--This is what you need to download and install.
  • If you chose the online installation, it will prompt you to run the program.
  • If you chose the offline installation, you will be prompted to save the file and you can run it from wherever you saved it.
  • Then after install you can verify your installation here Sun Java Verify
I like to to do the offline installation and save the setup file in case I may need it in the future

The rest of your HJT log looks fine, How is your system behaving now??

Hi again, Okay, it allowed me to delete the netrax folder without incident. Thankfully. :) I had already updated my Java this morning. Is it showing differently than the version 6, update 6? Thank you so much. You have saved my little hiney!! (or my 'big' hiney......but whatever. :) ) I hope you had a nice Father's Day. Thank you for taking time from your Sunday to help me. You have been fanastic! So, do you think I am all good to go now?

Your good to go  Glad things are working well. And yes I had a very nice Fathers Day, thank you.

Java

This is what you have
jre1.6.0_06

This is what you need
Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 6
http://java.sun.com/...loads/index.jsp <-- Get it here

I would double check it and make sure you have the latest version as it helps block this garbage from finding ways onto your system.

Some reading for you on keeping yourself more secure along with links to free programs to install. Make sure you follow the instructions for System Restore as all the garbage we removed is backed up in there and you will take the chance of re infecting your self if you ever use the program to revert your system to an earlier date.

Safe Surfn

Hi,

You can try this, if it does not work let me know and I will link you to some windows support sites that deal with issues like this.

Download Regtoy to your desktop
http://kynam.us.to/d...regtoysetup.zip

Install with recommended settings
Launch Regtoy

On the LHS, under User, select "Logon"
Tick "Show 'Turn off computer' on Welcome screen
Tick "Show 'Turn off computer' on Welcome screen 2

On LHS, under Others, select "Force apply changes"
Close RegToy
Logoff (actually you may need to restart)

Brilliant! Worked like a charm! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! Should there be an account name listed in the RegToy users called Support_388945ao with a full user name of Microsoft Corp, Redmond, WA? I unchecked it because it was the only other one checked that I didn't recognize. Do I want to play around with any of the other apps that came with RegToy? They look kinda fun.

Hello,

Not sure about the account info, thats up to you. As far as changing anything else, be careful because what this tool is doing is making changes to the Registry, you may want to look into the one directly from Microsoft.
