Bad news for you, Virut is a file infecter. The only choice is to format against it. These need to be wiped : all programs, all .exe + .scr executables, downloaded archives (.zip + .rar) and now, according to a very trustworthy colleague, this newer variant injects all .htm + .html files
so my videos, music, photos and docs are okay, I can save them to a cd? Also, does this infect all files evenif not opened? And will this travel across my drive partitions if the they are on the same hard drive? or to another hard drive I have in the computer?
Yes they should be fine. It infects every single file of the ones I listed above Could possibly travel to your partitions yes
