Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here and save it to your Desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • Ensure a checkmark is placed next to both Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version - you'll need to clear it with your firewall.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan and then Scan.
  • When the scan has finished, click OK and then Show Results to view the results - no surprise there!
  • If MBAM finds anything, check the box(es) and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
Let me have the MBAM log, a fresh HJT log (run in Normal Mode) AND a description of how your PC is behaving.

Also, run HJT and click on Open the Misc Tools section.
  • Click Open Uninstall Manager...
  • Click Save list... and save it to your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste the file uninstall_list.txt into your next reply.

Death to the salad eaters!

The major cause for concern is the following detection: C:\WINDOWS\system32\WService.exe (BackDoor.ProRat). A backdoor is pretty much what it sounds like, a back way into your PC. The problem with having this is that there is no real way to know what has been done to your PC via this access point. It's possible that malicious files have been downloaded and installed, perhaps monitoring your surfing for bank details, security settings have been altered making your computer more susceptible to infection in the future, or none of the above. About now i'd be backing up important data and reformatting if I used the PC for internet banking or shopping and changing passwords, on another PC of course, and monitoring accounts for unknown transactions. This is a worse case scenario i'm afraid, and if you like to be sure of your PC's security then you unfortunately need to reformat and reinstall. If you don't use it for anything important, then it's not as important, but it's still better to know the possibilities.

Eh. I've had a backdoor before. Oddly enough I've never had anyone logging onto anything of mine nor have I lost any money. I ran Killbox with the directory to that specific file and it wasn't there. Walwarebyte cleared it out so yeah. Want me to give you a new scan or what?

If you leave your house's backdoor open, I can't guarantee that you'll get burgled, but i'd make sure your insurance was up-to-date.

That it did. What it doesn't tell me is what was done to the PC while it was in place.

Want me to give you a new scan or what?

That won't change anything. A scanner can only say that it hasn't found what it is programmed to look for - if the malware/changes to security settings aren't on it's list, it won't look for them and it won't find and fix them.

The bottom line is that somebody had the ability to access your PC and could have done certain things to it. Whether they did or not, I don't know. Given this uncertainty, i'd reformat and reinstall, but that's just me. It's your PC and your choice as to how you run it - I just offer my best opinion and leave the decision up to you.
