Computer running slow
Programs won't open or stop "responding"
Constant popups- mostly ads and others of the obscene kind
Internet homepage is being "hijacked"
IE or Mozilla loading pages slow or not at all
Background:
Computer is only 9 months old, I've had Norton 360 on and active the whole time, additionally the internet had firewalls (sonic). My computer needed more allowance than the sonic firewalls were providing so instead of lowering the firewalls for everyone, they just put in an additional T1 for 4 of the computers to share. I think between the turnover and the new lines having less security, something got in. Norton should have caught it but didn't so I have tried using Avast! and it found a bunch of things but nothing that will delete permently. Additionally, the items in the system32 files will not allow deletion EVEN when I take ownership and "full control" from trusted installer. I have tried everything I can think of...any help before I completely wipe the system and start fresh would be very much appreciated! As that will be a long and tedious process as I have many programs that will require re-installation. This is my work computer so every minute is counting against me here. : (
