[manicd]

Hi

I downloaded Smitfraudfix.exe and now my AV is picking it up as a Virus, namely Trojan Horse Constructor.BRV. Is this a "False Positive" or should it be taken more seriously??

If you downloaded the file from the legitimate source, it's an FP. As well as these false detections, some of the components of various tools that are used in malware removal can be used for malicious purposes and an AV cannot tell by scanning why such a program is on your PC and so they get flagged as Potentially Unwanted by some scanners.

Hi Yes I downloaded it from a reputable source even though I cant remember where and run it a single time. The files which AVG flagged as being viruses have been stored in the virus vault, can I delete these? Also I done an online scan with Kaspersky which picked up the Virus/Trojan (or the FP in this case) in my system restore, should I delete my current system restore?

If you don't want them, delete them. If they are part of SmitfraudFix, you can download a fresh copy, should you need one.

This is one of the items I mentioned in my earlier post. Kav is flagging it as it can be used maliciously, but it can also be incorporated as part of a legitimate malware removal tool.
If you are bothered by it, you can flush System restore, but as I doubt that it poses any threat, i'd not bother - each to their own.
