Hello emance and welcome to the What the Tech Forums

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your problem.

Please download ComboFix by sUBs from HERE or HERE directly to your Desktop.

Note: If you already have ComboFix on your machine, please DELETE it from your desktop before downloading the newest version.

Go to [external image: Posted Image] -> Run -> copy/paste the following single line command in the runbox & click OK

"%userprofile%\desktop\combofix.exe" /killall

[external image: Posted Image]
  • ComboFix will automatically start. Any monitoring programs will be shut down like your antivirus, antispyware programs for example.
  • ComboFix may restart your computer, this is normal.
  • When finished, it will produce a log, ComboFix.txt.
  • Please post ComboFix.txt in your next reply along with a new HijackThis log.

Notes:

1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
3. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CDs, floppies and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you – please tell your helper.
4. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.
Did someone combine my (2) posts? I have two machines with different issues. I made two original posts and now both are in one thread. Please check the opening statement of each post in this thread. Thanks E
Yes they were combined. One computer at a time please. Our resources are limited. Your choice as to which one you want fix first. The solution provided is for "red shield"
16 bit ms-dos subsystem error The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. Choose close to terminate This combo fix utility doesn't seem to work. What other options do I have to fix these types of issues? I have two computers with type of malware infection. Please see the two different HiJack This logs above. I do not work in this office on a regular basis so it's a few days before I have a chance to get back and try your solutions. I appreciate your help on this by the users are getting frustrated. We are using Avast a/v and a Sonicwall firewall with the integrated antispyware/antivirus and intrusion prevention scanning services. We also use Windows Defender. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks,, E
Check to see if you have a " command.com" and a "regedit.com" in Windows sysytem 32 folder. Neither are legit. The legit ones are "Command.exe" and "regedit.exe". If you find the .com versions, delete them and try again.

If that does not work, try the following tool:

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
    (Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log
Since this issue appears to be resolved … this Topic has been closed. Glad we could be of assistance. If you're the topic starter, and need this topic reopened, please contact a staff member with the address of the thread. Everyone else please begin a New Topic.
