yes I missed the first part of your post. And no just going to go and buy bitdefender this weekend really liked it. FRYS on sale free after rebate

That sounds like a pretty good deal!
I have to stress that you really should keep the machine offline until it has antivirus installed, doing anything online these days without it is just too risky. Installing one of the free ones, and then uninstalling it before installing BitDefender should not pose any problems so this is what I recommend you do.

Some important final steps:

Clean up with OTMoveIt2:
  • Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to start the program.
  • Close all other programs apart from OTMoveIt2 as this step will require a reboot
  • On the OTMoveIt main screen, press the CleanUp! button
  • Say Yes to the prompt and then allow the program to reboot your computer.

Create a new, clean System Restore point which you can use in case of future system problems:
Press Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore
Select Create a restore point, then Next, type a name like All Clean then press the Create button and once it's done press Close

Now remove old, infected System Restore points:
Next click Start->Run and type cleanmgr in the box and press OK
Ensure the boxes for Recycle Bin, Temporary Files and Temporary Internet Files are checked, you can choose to check other boxes if you wish but they are not required.
Select the More Options tab, under System Restore press Clean up… and say Yes to the prompt
Press OK and Yes to confirm

If the above went well I think your machine is clean of malware :) here are some tips to help you keep your computer clean:

BitDefender is a good antivirus program, however I recommend you install antispyware software with real-time capabilities - this means it protects you from system changes and spyware while you are working, not just removing malware after it has been installed. There are a range of paid-for and free packages available, a free one I can recommend is Windows Defender, available here:
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/s…re/default.mspx

I recommend you install a custom hosts file such as MVPS HOSTS. This custom hosts file effectively blocks a wide range of unwanted ads, banners, 3rd party Cookies, 3rd party page counters, web bugs, and many hijackers.
For information on how to download and install, please read this tutorial by WinHelp2002
Note: Be sure to follow the instructions to disable the DNS Client service before installing a custom hosts file.
Also: subscribe to the mailing list to get update notifications.

Please take care when downloading programs. One of the easiest ways to be infected is to download freeware/shareware programs which come laden with malware - this includes allowing websites to install browser plug-ins or ActiveX controls. Before downloading, it is crucial to check whether the source is reputable.
One way to check is to use McAfee SiteAdvisor. Copy the domain name into the space provided and SiteAdvisor will give you a report on the website which can help you decide if it is safe. They also have a toolbar for IE and Firefox which adds this functionality to your browser.

Download and install the free version of WinPatrol. This program protects your computer in a variety of ways and will work well with your existing security software. Have a look at this tutorial to help you get started with the program.

Please post back to let me know that you have read this, and if there are any further issues.
I have read it and followed your instruction. After 02 M….CLEANUP and reboot my machine wouldnt restart. Just black screen after windows loadscreen. I had to restart 6 times by holding in button. Any ideas why that might have happened. other than that. No more issues. :D
It happened again………… after installing some of the other software you recommended I had to reboot and the system wouldnt restart passed the win-load screen. Just a cursor in the lower left corner. I unplugged the system from the wall for an hour then after a few tries it finally kicked on. I am afraid to turn it off again. I will await your response as to what you think might be causing this. I did use the HOSTS.MVPS. and all the other things you recommended also.. Hve you heard anything on those files we sent out to mybleepingcomputer.com?
Hi ROOFIE(MTL),

Sorry to hear you are having difficulties! I don't know what might have caused that problem  the only instructions I posted which might have had an adverse affect on your computer would be the hosts file installation - you MUST disable the DNS Client service before installation otherwise a severe slowdown is possible. Instructions for doing this are as follows:

Stop and Disable the DNS Client Service
Go to Start, Run and type Services.msc and click OK.
Under the Extended Tab, Scroll down and find this service.
DNS Client
Right-Click on the DNS Client Service. Choose Properties
Select the General tab. Click on the Stop button.
Click the Arrow-down tab on the right-hand side at the Start-up Type box.
From the drop-down menu, select Disabled
Click the Apply tab, then click OK

If this has no effect, I would remove any software you installed since we finished cleaning (via Add/Remove Programs) and see if there is any improvement.

Please let me know how you get on and if you are still having difficulties then post a new HijackThis log as well.
I have done that. Is there anyway a virus might have done something to my .ini files? Just a thought. I will post a new HJT log. In a few
As far as I can tell at present, your machine is clean, but as long as you have no antivirus installed it could be reinfected at any time. Why are you concerned about .ini files? Have there been an error message or detection of malware?

OK. It was just a thought as to why it might not re-boot. Above is my latest HJT log. I noticed there is a couple (no name) or (missing files) should I be worried about these. Or the C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE Seems to me it should be explorer.exe no CAPS, but hey your the expert. Antivirus and firewall installing next.
The one "no file" entry can be removed with HijackThis if you wish:

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {381FFDE8-2394-4f90-B10D-FC6124A40F8C} - (no file)

but there is nothing in your HijackThis log which would explain the symptom you describe. Installing an antivirus is a very good idea but I would leave the firewall until the problem is resolved - a firewall is best installed on a clean system working normally.

As far as I can tell your machine is stil clean so I'd say the problem is not likely to be malware related. I think the fastest way to resolve the problem is to speak with the Tech Team in the Microsoft Windows forum here at What the Tech. The experts there specialize in this type of problem and you are sure to get good advice.
