hello all dont know if i have done this right my first time hear

but i have a little problem with my computer its running quite slow and i keep getting error messages from a file called ewpcore ?

i have no idea what this could be i have tried different spyware and virus scanners and it hasent fixed the problem

any ways hear is my hijack this log if you could please take a look at it for me and see if you can spot any thing i would be
greatfull

Hi finchie,

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop (right-click the link, select Save Target As..., select your Desktop and press Save)

Close all applications and windows.
Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
Make sure Format->Word Wrap is unchecked
Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your reply

Once complete, please post both DSS logs, you won't need to produce a new HijackThis log as DSS produces one for you.

Hi finchie,

Please open Start->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs, and remove the following:

JavaT 6 Update 2

This is out of date and now a security risk, you can get the latest update (version 6 update 6) from here

You have a program called Messenger Plus! Live installed. When installing it offers a choice either to Install the sponsor program or I refuse to give my support, don't install the sponsor. The sponsor program is malware so if you installed it or are unsure we must remove it. Even if you didn't install the sponsor program I recommend you remove this program anyway as the developer is spreading malware for profit - read more information about this here.
You can remove Messenger Plus! Live via Add/Remove Programs

You have BitLord and LimeWire, P2P file sharing programs installed on your computer. These programs do not come bundled with malware as some similar programs do, but peer-to-peer file sharing networks are one of the biggest sources of malware we see. Anything downloaded from them cannot be trusted to be clean, because even if the file appears to be what it claims to be, it can have malware embedded in it.
I recommend you remove them, but of course the choice is yours.
You can remove these programs via Add/Remove Programs.

Then, open HijackThis, choose Do a system scan only and place a checkmark next to the following lines:

Then close Deckard's System Scanner

Then please do an online scan with Kaspersky:
Open Kaspersky Online Scanner in Internet Explorer using this link:

Click Accept and the web scanner will begin to load
If a yellow warning bar appears at the top of the browser, click it and choose Install ActiveX Control
You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, click Install
If you are prompted about another ActiveX control called Kaspersky Online Scanner GUI part then allow it to be installed also.
The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
Once the files have been downloaded click on Next and then Scan Settings
In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
- Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
Extended
- Scan Options:
Scan Archives
Scan Mail Bases
Click OK
Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer
The program will start to scan your system.
Once the scan is complete, click on the Save Report As... button, change Save as type: to Text file and save the file to your desktop as Kaspersky.txt

Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the license, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license is accepted, reset to 100%.

Once complete, please post the Kaspersky report along with a new HijackThis log.

Hi finchie,

It's not unusual for different scanners to pick up on different things, that's why it's sometimes good to get a '2nd opinion' using an online scanner like Kaspersky's.

There are a couple of lines which should be fixed with HijackThis that are still present after the last post, please try fixing them again:
Open HijackThis, choose Do a system scan only and place a checkmark next to the following lines:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

Then close all open windows apart from HijackThis, press Fix checked, OK the prompt and close HijackThis.

Make hidden/system files and folders visible:
Click Start -> My Computer
Select the Tools menu, click Folder Options and select the View tab
Under the Hidden files and folders heading SELECT Show hidden files and folders
UNCHECK the Hide extensions for known file types option
UNCHECK the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option
Click Yes to confirm and press OK

Part of something you are currently downloading with BitLord is infected, if you want to keep this program you should cancel all current downloads.

Use Windows Explorer (right-click Start, select Explore) to find and delete the following:

C:\Documents and Settings\Geoff\Application Data\ErrorSmart <-- whole folder
C:\Documents and Settings\Geoff\My Documents\BitLord\Temp\001.part

Download ATF Cleaner by Atribune to your Desktop
Check the box marked Select All, then un-check Cookies (unless you want to clean these as well)
Click the Empty Selected button.
Note: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt
Press Exit to close the program

Once complete, please post a new HijackThis log.
Also, let me know how your computer is running now and whether you are still receiving the errors.

here is the info you requested and thank you for helping me out with this stuff

and im not getting any more errors and computer is running alot faster

but that virus scanner didnt clean them viruses you have to buy that programe for it to clean it

and i ran my virus scanner again and it didnt pick them up at all ??? so what would you suggest i do ?

Hi finchie,

You need not worry about the Kaspersky detections, we have already cleaned some of them and we will finish removing them in this post.

Please delete dss.exe from your Desktop, also delete this folder:

C:\Deckard

Re-hide hidden/system files and folders:
Click Start -> My Computer
Select the Tools menu, click Folder Options and select the View tab
Under the Hidden files and folders heading SELECT Do not show hidden files and folders
CHECK the Hide extensions for known file types option
CHECK the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option
Press OK

Create a new, clean System Restore point which you can use in case of future system problems:
Press Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore
Select Create a restore point, then Next, type a name like All Clean then press the Create button and once it's done press Close

Now remove old, infected System Restore points:
Next click Start->Run and type cleanmgr in the box and press OK
Ensure the boxes for Recycle Bin, Temporary Files and Temporary Internet Files are checked, you can choose to check other boxes if you wish but they are not required.
Select the More Options tab, under System Restore press Clean up... and say Yes to the prompt
Press OK and Yes to confirm

If the above went well, I think your machine is now clean of malware

here are some tips to help you keep your computer clean:

You have a good antivirus program installed, however I recommend you install antispyware software with real-time capabilities - this means it protects you from system changes and spyware while you are working, not just removing malware after it has been installed. There are a range of paid-for and free packages available, a free one I can recommend is Windows Defender, available here:

I recommend you install a custom hosts file such as MVPS HOSTS. This custom hosts file effectively blocks a wide range of unwanted ads, banners, 3rd party Cookies, 3rd party page counters, web bugs, and many hijackers.

Note: Be sure to follow the instructions to disable the DNS Client service before installing a custom hosts file.
Also: subscribe to the mailing list to get update notifications.

Please take care when downloading programs. One of the easiest ways to be infected is to download freeware/shareware programs which come laden with malware - this includes allowing websites to install browser plug-ins or ActiveX controls. Before downloading, it is crucial to check whether the source is reputable.
One way to check is to use McAfee SiteAdvisor. Copy the domain name into the space provided and SiteAdvisor will give you a report on the website which can help you decide if it is safe. They also have a toolbar for IE and Firefox which adds this functionality to your browser.

Download and install the free version of WinPatrol. This program protects your computer in a variety of ways and will work well with your existing security software. Have a look at this tutorial to help you get started with the program.

hello there silver again just a few more questions i have for you if you dont mind answering them for me

any ways i done another online virus scan from that one you told me to go too and its still picking up

that i have got viruses could you take a look at the log again and see what is wrong i have deleted mirc and

the windows gen advantage crack zip files from my computer the scanner was saying they were viruses

any ways i have attached the log from the scan and another hijack this log just to see if you can see anything that

is wrong in there also

P.S i downloaded that host file to block the cookies and malware and stuff how do i check that i installed it right
i followed all the directions i just dont know if it worked or not ??

Your HijackThis log looks fine. The files from the Kaspersky log that need to be deleted are:

H:\My Music\new album music\windows_genuine_advantage_wga_crack_5-31-06.zip
H:\My Music\090208\michel jackson akon.mp3

Kaspersky flags mIRC because some malware uses it, if you installed it intentionally there is no problem with it and it's not a virus.

The readme.txt file included with the hosts file download has installation instructions, but basically you unzip everything from hosts.zip to your Desktop, then double-click the mvps.bat to install it. You should receive confirmation that the hosts file has been updated. If you aren't sure then it's no problem to follow the procedure again.

The presence of a WGA crack file indicates your Windows OS may not be genuine. You will have constant problems with malware unless you use a genuine copy with full access to updates, because it's just not possible to use unpatched Windows on the internet safely. It's also against forum policy to help users of illegal OS's unless they purchase a legal license. I urge you resolve this problem.
