I am trying to help a friend fix a pc that has become completely unusable. It has as wallpaper a blue background with a rectangular box in the middle. The top half of this box is yellow and says "Warning! Spyware detected on your computer." The bottom half is blue and says "Install an antivirus or spyware remover to clean your computer." I am unable to run any programs, including msconfig to restore to normal startup. The only way I could get Hijackthis to run was by starting in safe mode with command prompt. Hijack this is on a thumb drive. Log is as follows: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 2:36:28 PM, on 4/23/2008 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Boot mode: Safe mode Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows OneCare Live\Antivirus\MsMpEng.exe C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\guard.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe F:\hijack\HiJackThis.exe O2 - BHO: (no name) - {E3B8DE40-D7E4-48E0-B50B-4D2B85645563} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ATL7.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Dell Photo AIO Printer 922] "C:\Program Files\Dell Photo AIO Printer 922\dlbtbmgr.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [!AVG Anti-Spyware] "C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\avgas.exe" /minimized O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AVG7_CC] C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgcc.exe /STARTUP O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [igfxhkcmd] C:\WINDOWS\system32\hkcmd.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [igfxpers] C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxpers.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SoundMAXPnP] C:\Program Files\Analog Devices\Core\smax4pnp.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [pmrej] rundll32.exe "C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\qalihttl.nls" WLEntryPoint O4 - HKLM\..\Policies\Explorer\Run: [qmffib] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\dtphdhlppl.drv" WLEntryPoint O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-20\..\Run: [AVG7_Run] C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgw.exe /RUNONCE (User 'NETWORK SERVICE') O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\Run: [AVG7_Run] C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgw.exe /RUNONCE (User 'SYSTEM') O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\Run: [AVG7_Run] C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVG7\avgw.exe /RUNONCE (User 'Default user') O9 - Extra button: AOL Toolbar - {3369AF0D-62E9-4bda-8103-B4C75499B578} - C:\Program Files\AOL\AOL Toolbar 5.0\aoltb.dll O9 - Extra button: AT&T Yahoo! Hello

A malicious .DLL file is disrupting the LSP chain on your computer. We need to get rid of it.
  • Please download LSPFix from here.
  • Run the LSPFix.exe that you have just finished downloading.
  • Check the I know what I'm doing box.
  • In the Keep box you should see one or more instances of
    c:\windows\system32\pcjihcbq.dll
  • Select every instance of c:\windows\system32\pcjihcbq.dll and move each one to the Remove box by clicking the >> button.
  • When you are done click Finish>>.

Reboot and post a new HijackThis log
