You told me how to uninstall it, but I don't see where to install it?

Ah, sorry! Too many open threads and they appear to be blurring into one. Given that we haven't used CF, it can't be uninstalled - no matter, we''ll do things a different way:

Disable System Restore,
Reboot your PC,
Re-enable System Restore,
Create a Restore Point - this will give a clean one should you need it in the future.
A tutorial for System Restore is available here.

I plan to keep AVG, but otherwise is everything okay to delete (gmer, undll, anti-malware)?

You can delete the first two - the third is optional, but i'd keep it and scan once a week to see what's what.

The only problem it seems so far, after a few restarts, is AVG is still saying I cannot heal infected .dll files (saying virus found Log) because of the not enough info reason. Is this because of the same reason it won't heal the system restore ones?

That would depend on whether the files are in the System Volume Information folder or not. Unfortunately you haven't given me enough information to be able to answer you. If you tell me exactly what AVG is detecting and where it is detecting it, i'll have a better idea of what's what.

I read the article but is there somewhere with tips for what I should be allowing and what I shouldn't be allowing through?

You can use Google to research files, or ask in the forum: http://forums.whatth...ndows_f119.html

The AVG keeps detecting this file from the Windows/System32 folder: gfqjgskh.dll and says it cannot clean file, not enough information, but it keeps on bringing it up. It also seems to detect it whenever I start up Firefox?

Download UnDLL by ESET from here and save it to your Desktop.
You will then need to extract the file(s):
Right click on the zipped folder and from the menu that appears, click on Extract All...
In the 'Extraction Wizard' window that opens, click on Next> and in the next window that appears, click on Next> again.
In the final window, click on Finish

Double click UNDLL.EXE to begin:
  • Click Select infected DLL.
  • Copy and paste the following filename into the Filename: textbox and click Open -

    C:\Windows\System32\gfqjgskh.dll
  • Allow the tool to delete the file - a reboot may be necessary.
There will be a textfile in the undll folder - let me have a copy of that and a fresh HJT log.

Did that solve the AVG detections?

So far, yes. No .dll pop up's from AVG, only the system restore ones, but hopefully those should go away now.

I just did the System Restore and it worked perfectly as far as I can tell.

Everything on my system now seems to be running without errors. Now if I can just get the update feature on my AVG to work (it doesn't update, it tells me it needs to restart, but doesn't ask me to restart when it does the update, and whenever I restart myself -- it doesn't read it as restarted. Auugh.) ...

Thank you for all of your help, I would've been absolutely hopeless without it. :notworthy:

If AVG doesn't play nicely, download a fresh installation file, disconnect from the internet, uninstall, reboot and reinstall.
