The first thing to do is run the disinfector. Any computer you attach the infected devices to is going to get infected.

Sorry for the late reply,

Here is my ComboFix log, I ran ComboFix after the disinfector but I didn't run the ComboFix while the flash drive, usb drive and external hd was inserted. I hope that I didn't need to do that. Regardless, here is my log:

Oh sorry. Yeah it seems ok right now. I haven't had any error messages and msconfig doesn't show any startup processes with kavo or tavo.exe. Sometimes it's hard for me to tell though because even when I knew I was infected, error messages wouldn't always show up, but at least msconfig doesn't show any kavo or tavo startup processes. All in all I haven't received any error messages since running ComboFix after I got infected by my usb drive.

Lets do this and give it a few days to see how it goes.

  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.

Hey LDTate Everything looks good. Kavo and Tavo haven't returned but I'm still scared to use my flash drive and/or usb drive and external HD even though I ran the disinfector on them. Is there anyway to make sure they are disinfected without first hooking them into my computer?

I don't know of any way to test them with connecting them. Once connected you should be able to scan them with your anti-virus program.

Hey again

I tested my USB drive again... it was still infected, because that error message showed up again. The flash disinfector didn't work. After running the disinfector am I supposed to run my anti virus ? I though the disinfector would kill it already. Here's my HijackThis log:

With your thumb drive attached do this:

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
Also "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
