I'm headed to bed. Will check back in the morning. Try this: 1. Double-click My Computer, and then right-click the hard disk that you want to check. 2. Click Properties, and then click Tools. 3. Under Error-checking, click Check Now. A dialog box that shows the Check disk options is displayed, 4. Use one of the following procedure: • To run Chkdsk in read-only mode, click Start. • To repair errors, locate bad sectors, and recover readable information, select the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box, and then click Start. Note If one or more of the files on the hard disk are open, you will receive the following message: The disk check could not be performed because the disk check utility needs exclusive access to some Windows files on the disk. These files can be accessed by restarting Windows. Do you want to schedule the disk check to occur the next time you restart the computer? Click Yes to schedule the disk check, and then restart your computer to start the disk check.
Ok LD thanks for the help thus far I REALLY appreciate it. I'll try what you have just suggested and hope that we make some headway for tomorrow, have a good night, rest easy, Jey
:wall: >< sorry LD no such luck. I tried doing the chkdsk command again as well as the c-drive error check and it won't boot up in normal, says that windows was unable load. won't load in safe mode either, loads all the drivers at the boot screen and freezes when it gets to multi(o)disc(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\agp440.sys. :pullhair: I can hear my harddrive grinding, or thrashing, or whatever, like it does under load but nothing happens onscreen. So there we go. :( Thanks again LD, Jey
Ok, so i did as you instructed and it's still paused at the safe mode boot screen when loading all the drivers, and the harddrive is still grinding as if under load
LD, once again i want to thank you for all the help you have given me. I just booted up the comp with the xp cd, r to repair, and then bootcg /rebuild to try and see if i can get it to boot up, i'll let you know how it goes. I do have to go to work here in about 40 minutes and will be there until 11pm GMT, then i have to work from 7-6 tomorrow so i might not be able to get a reply in until tomorrow night. You're awesome  and i really appreciate you
