hi could anyone please help
my son opened some pictures off somebody on messenger
i have warned him time and again not to but him being a 14 year old thinks he knows better than his old dad :)
anyway i kept getting win32:small-jmh trojan warnings so i did an av scan using avast and removed all
then turned of system restore and booted in safe mode and ran adaware, avast and spybot which found
2 entries of premiumsearch & 2 of sckeylogger which i removed, restarted and the win32:small & premiumsearch
returned. looked in msconfig startup tab and disabled this ^^^^^^ and rebooted but it keeps coming back, so do
win32:small & premiumsearch :(
very grateful for any help anybody can offer

Hi,

If you still need help, please do the following:

Turn on System Restore

  • Right click on My Computer and select Properties.
  • Select the System Restore tab.
  • Uncheck (untick) Turn off system restore on all drives box.
  • Click OK.
  • Restart your computer.

Step 1

If you already have SDFix, please delete this copy and download it again as it's being updated regularly.

  • Please download SDFix by AndyManchesta and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on SDFix.exe. By default, it will install to C:\.
  • Click on Install.

Please print out or save this set of instructions as you will not have internet access during the fix.

Next, boot into Safe Mode.

  • When you see BIOS screen, start pressing F8.
  • A boot menu will appear shortly.
  • Using the up down arrows, select Safe Mode and press the Enter key.
  • Windows will now load.
  • Log in to your usual account.
  • Navigate to C:\SDfix (if you installed it to the default location, otherwise, locate where you installed it)
  • Double click on RunThis.bat
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any key to reboot.
  • When the PC restarts the tool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load, the SDFix report will open on screen. You can also find the report in SDFix folder, named Report.txt.

Step 2

  • Please download and install CCleaner Slim.
  • Once installed, double click on the desktop shortcut created.
  • On the leftmost column, click on Tools.
  • On the middle column, click on Uninstall.
  • At the bottom right hand corner, click on the Save to text file... button.
  • By default, it saves this file to C:\Program Files\CCleaner named install.txt. You may want to save it to your desktop to find it easily. Click Save.
  • Close CCleaner.
Note: Doing this will not uninstall any programs. It will only produce a log of installed programs on your computer.

Step 3

Please open Notepad and copy and paste the following in the Code box into Notepad:

if exist C:\peek*.txt del /q C:\peek*.txt
if exist C:\startup.txt del /q C:\startup.txt
regedit /e C:\peek1.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg"
regedit /e C:\peek2.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupfolder"
regedit /e C:\peek3.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\shared tools\msconfig\services"
type C:\peek*.txt >> C:\startup.txt
echo End >> C:\startup.txt
del /q C:\peek*.txt
notepad C:\startup.txt

Click on File > Save As....

In the File Name box, copy and paste in msconfig.bat

In the Save As Type box, select All Files from the drop-down list.

Click Save.

Double click on msconfig.bat to run it. Command Prompt will open and close quickly; this is normal. Notepad will open shortly afterwards. Please post the contents of this Notepad file in your next reply.

In your next reply, please post:

  • SDFix report (C:\SDFix\report.txt)
  • CCleaner install.txt file
  • Contents of Notepad from Step 3 (C:\startup.txt)
  • A new HijackThis log
