Hi, I have had trouble this week with a couple of hijackers. the first was popups about false infections that lead you to antispyware-reviews.biz when clicked on. i think this opened the door for another, even worse hijacker called trustedantivirus. It does the same as the first, except occasionally without warning popup windows to porn sites will open. Severely not cool with children running around the house! I have tried running a number of removal programs: adaware, spybot, xoftspyse, stinger. In reading about trustedantivirus i saw that Spyhunter was supposed to be able to detect it and remove it. So I ran Spyhunter and was overjoyed when it detected trustedantivirus and porn site cookies. I thought I was in the clear, but then shortly after removal the popups will return. I am running Windows XP. Just prior to the following Hijack This log I ran Spyhunter, Ad-Aware, and XoftSpySE. Please help, it has been 5 days now of incredible frustration. 8)

Hello Werewolf8 and welcome to the What the Tech Forums

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your problem.


A. We need to disable some of your security programs because they may interfere with our tools:


SPYBOT TEATIMER

• Launch Spybot S&D, go to the Mode menu and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected.
• On the left hand side, click on Tools, then click on the Resident Icon in the list.
• Uncheck the "Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings) active." box.
• Click on the "System Startup" icon in the List
• Uncheck the "TeaTimer" box and "OK" any prompts.
• If Teatimer gives you a warning that changes were made, click the "Allow Change" box when prompted.
• Exit Spybot S&D when done.
• (When we are done, you can re-enable Teatimer using the same steps but this time place a check next to "Resident TeaTimer" and check the "TeaTimer" box in System Startup.]

B. Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

• Restart your computer
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
• Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
• Choose your usual account.

• Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
• Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
• It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
• Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
• When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
• Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
  (Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
• Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

Hi. Thanks for the reply but I believe I finally took care of it. After running SpyHunter and XoftSpySE, I ran PCTools Spyware Doctor and It found the stuff that the others were missing. I have been popup and hijack free for more than 24 hours now. yay!!!!
