Trojan issue with IE

When I try to use internet explorer, an error message continues to pop up saying "Your computer was infected by unknown trojan It's dangerous for your system [critical files can be lost] click ok to download the antispyware program to clean your computer." Clicking ok takes me to a download screen, but I assume that its part of the trojan and I shouldn't download. Any help would be appreciated.
