Try that last thing I posted. Do you have any way of copying the hijackthis log to the pc you're using so you can post it here? You could use a thumb drive if you have one.

when i type explorer.exe in the new task window, the blue screen flashes once, the computer cpu useage goes to about 30, but nothing at all happens. i also tried typing in that other stuff, and it says invalid. i guess its because explorer.exe aint working.

i dont. my friend probably has one. i couldnt find where the highjack log is, so i did a fresh brand new one, as of 2 minutes ago.. will that help, or do you need the one directly after the combo fix

Also try this:

Please go to Task Manager > File > Run and and type copy/paste in this line:

regedit.exe /e c:\export.txt "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\explorer.exe"


Then hit enter.

Then use Notepad to go to c:\export.txt

If you cannot find the file, please let me know that fact.

it doesnt do anything, except for make the screen flicker for a millisecond. i will have to see my friend, to see if he has something to transfer that onto. unless i can get it to go to burn on a cd or something.

Open notepad using Task Manager and copy/paste the contents of the following 'Code box' into it:
(do not forget to copy and paste REGEDIT4 in it!)

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"Shell"="Explorer.exe"

Save it to your desktop as fixme.reg

Then, locate fixme.reg on your desktop and it.

You will receive a prompt similar to: "Do you wish to merge the information into the registry?".

Answer 'Yes' and wait for a message to appear similar to "Merged Successfully"

Reboot.

Open taskmanager > at the top left, click File> New Task> copy paste this in or type it in:
C:\WINDOWS\ERDNT\Hiv-backup\erdnt.exe

run it

Restart PC

hi. sorry about not getting back to you till now. the other day my friend brought his system out, and took my hard drive out, and checked it for viruses with his machine (without my hard drive spinning?) he found 192 instances or files that were infected with vurtumonde and smitfraud and about 2 other trojan thing-a-majigs. so anyways, he said the only way to fix it easy was to reformat it and install my operating system all over. well, i couldnt find my disks, so he put windows vista on it. (BIG MISTAKE I THINK) IT takes forever to load up, i cannot find ANYTHING on it. hell, i have a hard time finding the programs on it. he was supposed to save my invoices and vital things, and he didnt… (shoot me? lol) my sound didnt work, my printer wouldnt install, etc. etc. etc. now, to my problem now. im not sure if i should start a new thread or put it here, but youve helped me good before, so you tell me. and thanks. my iexplorer.exe is using like between 90,000 k and 104,000 k my computer useage is at 60-80% sitting still. when i open any browser, my cpu useage goes to 100% and is slow. when i do control/alt/delete to get task manager up, explorer crashes closing all browsers and says "APPCRASH" I Used to be able to watch videos on it, via cbs, and cwtv .com's and now, it constantly buffers, has real poor quality……….. also, a program called CCLEANER he installed, shows like 30-50 issues with the regristy. it says "fix selected" but i DID NOTHING. i am waiting for you to tell me what to do, with the extensive knowledge you have, cause im just a car/truck tech not computer. lol….. can you help here, or should i make a new post? thanks for everything.

Your PC might not meet Vista requirements.
Unless you purchased Vista yourself, you are running illegal software and I can't help you from here, sorry.

to straighten this out, he had to take my computer back to his business, and he bought and installed an authentic vista on it. its all registered and verified by mircrosoft. so its not an illegal software, or application.
