I have an IMAC running windows xp via "Boot Camp". All of a sudden, my browsers began acting glitchy…very slow loading zap2it.com, and some other sites. Additionally, when I boot windows, only my desktop loads…no icons or task bar. Only after I hit return does everything begins to load. I have run ad-aware, spybot search & destroy and windows defender. I am running macdrive 7. I ran hyjack this, and have generated a log file. I will post it here.

I have used the "revo uninstaller" recently, because the windows "remove hardware" function doesn't work (does not list the installed programs). Been like that from the start, but everything else functioned well, so I attributed it to the boot camp program. This condition that I am seeking help for today only began a few days ago. All of this happened so suddenly, that I suspect malware, or I inadvertantly changed something in the registry (revo will do that).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry about the delay in responding :(

If you still need help, Scan again with HijackThis, and copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Thanks for getting back to me. I know my post was very vague - like saying "my car doesn't work right…can you tell me how to me fix it?" I realize I didn't include very good info, besides the hjt log file. Strange problem. The system was taking a VERY long time (a few minutes) to populate the desktop with icons after the desktop pattern is loaded. It is faster better now, but I don't know why. I didn't do anything besides my weekly virus/spyware runs. The biggest problem is that my browsers on the mac side (safari & firefox) - pages load VERY slowly…so much so that I have to switch to XP to surf the net. These browsers WERE lightening fast! I did download safari on the windows side, then erased it. As I stated in my first post, my "add or remove programs" function in the control panel doesn't become populated…no programs are listed. I used Revo Uninstaller…it allows you to TOTALLY uninstall programs, even related registry entries. This was probably too dangerous for me to allow. Don't know. Let me know if there is any other info I can provide.

Here are the logs for anti-malware and HJT. The problem I had with the desktop icons appearing long after the desktop pattern is no more. It just seemed to gradually fix itself. No delay at all. Since this occurred at the same time as my browser woes in mac land, I thought they were somehow related. But, since the windows side of my house seems to working ok (except for the control panel's inability to display programs in the add/remove programs function…been like this since I loaded xp on this computer), I guess I need to find someone such as yourself in the "mac" world to help me with the browsers. I really appreciate your assistance. Much thanks.

(except for the control panel's inability to display programs in the add/remove programs function…been like this since I loaded xp on this computer),

Glad it got better by itself.
So if I understand this correctly, when you open Contro Panel it shows the normal list of items but when you open the Add/Remove, it opens but doesn't display the programs?

Try this:

You can use windows sfc (system file checker) You'd need your XP CD to make this work.
Click Start> Run> type sfc /scannow Note the space.
(Note that there is a space between sfc and /scannow)
There were no changes after running sfc. I did notice that rundll32.exe does use 50% of the resources while in the "add/remove program" function of the control panel, but this is probably normal. It must be off doing something to expend those resources, but I couldn't guess what. I did abort after about 6 minutes.
