Using Internet Explorer, click on Kaspersky Online Scanner * You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click 'Yes'.
* The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
* Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click 'Next'.
* Now click on 'Scan Settings'
* In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database: 'Extended' (If available, otherwise 'Standard')
o Scan Options: 'Scan Archives' and 'Scan Mail Bases'
* Click 'OK'
* Now under 'Select a target to scan' select 'My Computer'
* The scan will take a while, so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete, it will display whether your system has been infected.
* Now click on the 'Save as Text' button:
* Save the file to your desktop.
Please post the Kaspersky report and a new HijackThis log.
Thank you LDTate! Downloaded and running as I type. (I'm on another computer) I made the mistake last night of uninstsalling CA Security Suite to attempt a reinstall again thinking corrupt files. Bad Move on my part. It wont reinstall properly, won't allow real time enablement of anything, wont install firewall etc… Anyway I have the online Kaspersky running now and will post results along with HJT log as soon as finished. (stay tuned found a baddie in first minute of scan) I was able to give permissions to all users to "Program files" folder through safe mode from that first link you posted from Microsoft database. Not sure if that has anything to do with anything.
OK. Don't do to much without an Anti-Virus program

Get this free one.

Click HERE Click the Download Now and Save, Install, Update and run a full scan.
I always use a anti-virus. This is brother-in laws box. He was using expired McAfee. My ISP gives CA Internet Security Suite for free with free updates for life so thats why I installed it for him. He is on the same ISP. I'll post back after Kaspersky is finished.
I understand, but if it isn't working, you need to get the free one I posted until you can get CA working. You can always uninstall it.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Will do.
Have those infectionsdetected by Kaspersky been removed?

If you delete the ones I just posted.

You can run it again or we can run one that will remove anything found.

Lets run an F-Secure online scan it will scan for Viruses, Spyware and RootKits:
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Start scanning button. A window will pop up.
  • Allow the Active X control to be installed on your computer, then click the Accept button
  • Click Full System Scan and allow the components to download and the scan to complete.
  • If malware is found, check Submit samples to F-Secure then select Automatic cleaning
  • When cleaning has finitished, click Show report (this will open an Internet Explorer window containing the report)
  • Highlight and Copy (CTRL + C) the complete report, and Paste (CTRL + V) in a new reply to this post
If Automatic cleaning with Submit samples hangs, click Cancel, then New Scan
  • When the cleaning option is presented, Uncheck Submit samples to F-Secure
  • Click Automatic cleaning
  • When cleaning has finitished, click Show report (this will open an Internet Explorer window containing the report)
  • Highlight and Copy (CTRL + C) the complete report, and Paste (CTRL + V) in a new reply to this post

Note: This scan will only work with Internet Explorer.
You must be logged on a administrator rights to run this scan.
The scan may take a few hours.

Also let me know how the computer is running now.
Heres the HJT log after removing files you indicated. Computer is picking up speed but having problems on start up from the botched uninstall/reinstall of CA Suite. Also not sure if its holding cookies because I ticked remember me at this forum but have to relog in every time. Have not gone anywhere else because of doing scans on this box.

Do you want me to proceed with F-Secure?
