[Resolved] Tried alot now im her with log

Used CA anti spyware and adaware, found some baddies but the problem still exists. Pop ups, attempted bogus installs, and revoked admin privliges from a user. Box is very sluggish. It wont let me install Spybot S&D and it Turning off the CA anti spyware realtime scanner and wont allow me to turn it back on.

I suggest you do this:

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.


Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.


Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Next:

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
Also "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

I did the ATF Cleaner no problem. During the install of Malwarebytes I recieved the following: "Setup was unable to create the directory C:\Program files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Error 5 Access is denied." Looks like the same error I recieved when trying to install Spybot last night. GRRRRRRRRRRRR Thans for working with me on this. Been checking all day back here for answers.

1.Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a checkmark/tick in the box on the left side on these:

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Removed all viewpoint programs. No Rapidblaster listed.
A few of the items on your list were not there.
Access is denied to "Program Files" folder.
Could not delete (permission denied) C:\WINDOWS\system32\_c))!D640.dat, however file was not there after reboot.
Permission still denied to Program files after reboot also.
Box is still very sluggish and multiple pop-ups occuring.

Lets see if you can run this one.

Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.
**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, please delete it from your desktop and download this new version . It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

  • Close any open browsers and make sure you are disconnected from the net. Unplug the cable if need be before running combofix.
  • WARNING: IF you have not already done so Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet when it starts
  • Please do not re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review

*If there is no internet connection when Combofix has completely finished then restart your computer to restore back the connections.

Box is a little more responsive however i still dont have permission to access program files and one of the users admin privligage are still revolked.
Pop ups have stopped thus far.

Have you tried giving the user admin rights again?

  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.

    You need to create a new Clean restore point.

    Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

    Click Start Menu > Run > copy and paste

    Press OK. Choose Create a Restore Point then click Next. Name it (something you'll remember) and click Create, when the confirmation screen shows the restore point has been created click Close.

    Double-click My Computer.
    Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
    Click the View tab.
    Check "Hide file extensions for known file types."
    Under the "Hidden files" folder, Uncheck "Show hidden files and folders."
    Check "Hide protected operating system files."
    Click Apply, and then click OK.

    • Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:
      • From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
      • Click once on the Security tab
      • Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
      • Click once on the Custom Level button.
      • Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
      • Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
      • Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
      • Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
      • Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
      • Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
      • When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
      • If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
    • Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.
  • Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperative that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week
    (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

  • Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer.
    Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over.
    I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients.
    Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.

  • Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly.
    This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer.
    If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site
    until there are no more critical updates.

  • Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will add a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer
    settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.

  • Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly.
    Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.

Only run one Anti-Virus and Firewall program.

All users have admin rights! Thanks! Alot of progress was mad however I'm still restricted from getting into program files folder and one of the accounts will not let me turn on the pop up blocker in IE7. Says I need admin rights which all users have! I also cant turn on real time scanner in CA Anti spyware scanner. Says will be complete after reboot but its not taking on all accounts. Lost on this one. Any ideas?

On the My Computer icon, right click and select Manage, open Local Users and Groups, open Groups and double click administrators and make sure your user name is listed.

Local Users is not listed under any account, but when I go into safe mode it says all users have admin rights under their names. Box is still sluggish.
