Please help me, My girlfriends computer is infected with popups from setthetrend and others. I have had her laptop for her a while and tried to install every type of anti-spyware, ad-adware removal program but have since then removed most of them as they take up alot of resources. I could deal with the popups for a while but now they are getting worse, it logs my typing while I'm in Firefox and It will do a search in Internet Explorer (with what I typed) with Setthetrend and other popups come up as well. I appreciate any and all advice and thank you for your time here is my HJT Log: Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 8:50:31 PM, on 2/26/2008 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MsMpEng.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\WLTRYSVC.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\bcmwltry.exe C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 2007\aawservice.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Canon\IJPLM\IJPLMSVC.EXE C:\Program Files\Dell\NICCONFIGSVC\NICCONFIGSVC.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Compact Wireless-G USB Adapter Wireless Network Monitor\WLService.exe C:\Program Files\Compact Wireless-G USB Adapter Wireless Network Monitor\WUSB54GC.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\1147641495\ee\aolsoftware.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\wscntfy.exe C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe C:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Common\ViewpointService.exe C:\Documents and Settings\mensur imamovic\Desktop\HiJackThis.exe O2 - BHO: (no name) - {0B32487B-C948-4A60-BE61-3671E8DBB55B} - (no file) O2 - BHO: DriveLetterAccess - {5CA3D70E-1895-11CF-8E15-001234567890} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswshx.dll O2 - BHO: SSVHelper Class - {761497BB-D6F0-462C-B6EB-D4DAF1D92D43} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_04\bin\ssv.dll O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {0BF43445-2F28-4351-9252-17FE6E806AA0} - (no file) O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows Defender] "C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe" -hide O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Aim6] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\Launch\AOLLaunch.exe" /d locale=en-US ee://aol/imApp O23 - Service: Ad-Aware 2007 Service (aawservice) - Lavasoft - C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 2007\aawservice.exe O23 - Service: Ares Chatroom server (AresChatServer) - Ares Development Group - C:\Program Files\Ares\chatServer.exe O23 - Service: PIXMA Extended Survey Program (IJPLMSVC) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Canon\IJPLM\IJPLMSVC.EXE O23 - Service: Process Monitor (LVPrcSrv) - Unknown owner - c:\program files\common files\logishrd\lvmvfm\LVPrcSrv.exe (file missing) O23 - Service: NICCONFIGSVC - Dell Inc. - C:\Program Files\Dell\NICCONFIGSVC\NICCONFIGSVC.exe O23 - Service: Viewpoint Manager Service - Viewpoint Corporation - C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Common\ViewpointService.exe O23 - Service: Dell Wireless WLAN Tray Service (wltrysvc) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\WLTRYSVC.EXE O23 - Service: WUSB54GCSVC - GEMTEKS - C:\Program Files\Compact Wireless-G USB Adapter Wireless Network Monitor\WLService.exe – End of file - 2918 bytes
wizzard21,

Welcome to the forum. Your log looks fine but lets do this.

First create a folder on your C:\ drive and name it HJT , then Cut and Paste HJT where you currently have it and Paste it into the new folder. It has to be in its own folder for backups.

Please download SuperAntiSpyware Free
Install the program
  • Run SuperAntiSpyware and click: Check for updates
  • Once the update is finished, on the main screen, click: Scan your computer
  • Check: Perform Complete Scan
  • Click Next to start the scan.
Superantispyware scans the computer, and when finished, lists all the infections found.
Make sure everything found has a check next to it, and press: Next <– Important
Then, click Finish

It is possible that the program asks to reboot in order to delete some files.

Obtain the SuperAntiSpyware log as follows:
  • Click: Preferences
  • Click the Statistics/Logs tab
  • Under Scanner Logs, double-click SuperAntiSpyware Scan Log
It opens in your default text editor (such as Notepad)

Please provide the SuperAntiSpyware log in your reply, as well as a new HijackThis log.
