Hi my name is matt, im 21 years old. I recently bought a new laptop.

I am pretty good with computers, but I haven't been taking good care of

my computer lately and I have Starware on my computer now, but the

toolbar doesn't show up.

Starware has stolen hours of my time. I ran spybot and fixed other

infections. Spybot was unable to fix StarWare. (I didn't know i had

starware until i ran spybot and I didn;t even know what starware was)

I searched for answers.

Found out about Hijackthis and it SEEMS to be the answer, but I don't

know how to use the program and I don't want to run the risk of

deleting any vital system files. I don't want to resort to the manual

starware removal instructions which are the first solution i found, but

it's an undesired risky route for me, i think.

I downloaded a program from pctools.com because it claimed that the

demo version would remove starware, but it seems unlikely after trying.

So this is my 3rd try.

spybot - 1
pctools.com - 2
hijackthis - 3

I am hoping that someone here(a professional/expert) can help me

interpret the log file that hijackthis has provided me with.

Much thanks to anyone that is able and willing!!

here's what hijackthis provided me with………

hi, please provide a uninstall list, like this: start hjt, click on "open misc tools section" click on uninstall manager" click on "save list" save it then copy/paste it in next reply. other than spybot finding it, are you having any other signs of malware like popups, page redirects, strange toolbars etc. anything? did you add this to IE title page: Internet Explorer\Main,Window Title = Why are you using my computer you stupid ####### ######!
yeah I added the "why are you using my computer…." to IE. I was just messing around one night and read how to do it. It's meant to be a joke if someone is using my computer without telling me i guess. I don't have any problems with popups. I use firefox. I do have a small problem with firefox. The blank page runs as a search page now. chrome://searchsettingsplugin/skin/tabwelcome.html I'm going to do as you said with the uninstalling. Thanks. I'll post what the program give me in a minute.

There are no noticeable problems on my computer. I just read that starware can slow down my computer. I want to optimize my computer capabilities and release the "anchors" slowing it down. The only thing I question about my system is the fact that my system idle process uses close to 100 CPU. I have a duo core processor. toshiba techra m5 t2500 2 ghz
hi, thanks for the info. i dont see much in the list you provided. your java is slightly out of date and the old versions should be removed. i saw this in the list, do you know what software that is for? Search Settings i have a duel core also (amd 5600+) and my system idle process under the process tab is showing 99 CPU usage. shelf life
