[Resolved] Help with Multiple Trojans

Hello again friends,

I have yet another friend in need of help. His computer has multiple trojans that spybot has detected. Some like Smitfraud-C, Spylocked.Fakealert, Virtumonde, Virtumonde.generic, Virus Protect.. ETc. I also see he has several antiviruses working at the same time and I know that this can not be done. I will be installing Nod32 from Eset but need to know what to do first…Here is the HJT log…

hi, please provide a uninstall list like this: (iam doing this from memory, iam in linux right now and cant check to make sure) start hjt click on 'open misc tools section" click on uninstall manager? should see a button called uninstall list/mananger or something like that it will make a list of everything in the add/remove programs panel. please save then copy/ paste the list in next reply —————————— you can remove the multiply antivirus programs via the add/remove programs panel and install Eset. if not prompted, reboot after the uninstalls of each of the antivirus while you are there look for these to uninstall also: Viewpoint webHancer mysidesearch reboot once rerun a up to date spybot post the uninstall list and a new hjt log please.

Hello shelf life & thank you for your quick response. I am communicating to you VIA my pc because after uninstalling the multiple av's, installing Eset, uninstalling mysidesearch and running spybot the infected pc can not get online now. I did a ipconfig /release & renew to no avail. The local area connection status is limited or no connectivity.

hi,

see if you can get a copy of LSPfix on there. its pretty small, may not fit on a floppy but a 64/128mb usb flash drive would be plenty.
my bad, should have got it before. its the webhancer in the LSP chain thats causing the problem. normally uninstalling the offending app in some cases will remove it. after you uninstalled you rebooted computer? if not try a reboot first.



download LSPFix. http://www.cexx.org/LSPFix.exe

Run it, make sure you click the "I know what I'm doing" button.

when it opens, dont move anything to the Remove side. if you see something already listed for you on the Remove side, click the finish button.
if nothing is listed on the Remove side for you just close it with the X or you can click the finish button, nothing is listed so nothing will be removed.

reboot computer/modem/router and see if you have connectivity

ok good. looking at the uninstall list:
look in add/remove programs panel and uninstall:
(uninstall 2 at a time, reboot computer and then get the other two)

hi, ok thanks for the info. hows it looking on that end now after the uninstall? you can look in add/remove programs panel and uninstall this foistware if you want. installed without your knowledge and useless bloatware anyway; Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present. Viewpoint Viewpoint Manager Viewpoint Media Player

Done.. I removed all three of them.. Things seem to be very well, thank you shelf life. Is there anything that should be updated or removed? I will let my friend know that downloading and using keygens from bittorrents is not a good thing….

java is out of date, can update

* 1. Uninstall old versions of Sun Java via Add/Remove Programs.

hi, I was able to do the fix in HJT for the above items, But I can not download the Java runtime JRE 6 update 4. I keep getting this..Your download transaction cannot be approved. Contact Customer Service… I have not yet removed (uninstalled) the older versions yet because I wanted to download the latest file then uninstall old then install new..

Got it.. Thank You shelf life. Everything seems to be working fine & yeah this guy likes his adobe but not what they cost. It seems this is how this pc was corrupted. Thank You once again….
