Hi, I know this is a virsu …its i the same virus issue I had the last time I posted a topic here. Unfortunatley it ran so rampid and so fast 12 hrs I ended up not being able to turn off puter.
PLEASE HELP!!! I know I havent much time left before it eats my hard drive again!!
The tmp files are in my C drive under my computer. The virus also changed my C drive icon into a HUGE Red X.
Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab. Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders." Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.
Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.
Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune. Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)
It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.
Next:
Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.
Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
Also "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.
Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
hi and thanx for the responce. I knew I hadnt much time with this virus after my last episode, and after checking here for about 2 hrs I realized I could not wait any further. I will let you know what I did in order to remove two baddies from my system.
I went to Trend Mirco and did an online scan. They informed me of two things:
Malware:
EXPL_NUYIR.A
Trojan
TROJ_GENERIC
It was the TROJ_GENERIC which had installed over 7000 POS *.tmp files under my C drive folder and changed the icon from acer to a nice big red X.
The X is still there but the temp files are gone.
Trend Mirco online has a fix for GENERIC Virus, thank-goodness, but AVG and the others didnt work for it.
After that I ran a download free copy of Trend Mirco in safe mode, just to be sure..and had a clean report. I then went into my C drive, viewed as details (because there just so many to delete) and drag and dropped into recycling bin.
I have to really say with this virus, if you do not take notice of the POS.*tmp files in ur C drive in time (about 8 hrs) it will give you a blue screen and will not start up.
You may delete this now, for my problem has been solved :)) CHEERS!! And thanx for a great site.
