Hiya. I've had a few spyware apps hit this PC over the last 6 months and i believe i have successfully removed them. The last one to infect was a virus spreaded via USB keys, spreading 'CN911.exe'.
I'd just like a confirmation of a clean PC. Maybe help remove any excess entries that are no longer needed.

Thank you.

Hi

The log looks clean but humour me by doing this.

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
  • Close all applications and windows.
  • Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  • When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
  • Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt in your next reply
Thanks Scotty, looks like we share the same name heh…
Anywho, the logs:

Event Description:

The reason the system could not register these RRs was because the
DNS server contacted refused the update request. The reasons for this
might be (a) you are not allowed to update the specified DNS domain name,
or (b) because the DNS server authoritative for this name does not support
the DNS dynamic update protocol.

To register the DNS host (A) resource records using the specific DNS
domain name and IP addresses for this adapter, contact your DNS server

Hi

Ok Scott, one last check.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location.
  • The log can also be found here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
  • Or at C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
  • Post that log back here.
I did as you asked, but one of the detections were false and ended up destroying my installation of Xmoto (An open-source game). So it may be a good idea to review your use of this app.
Here is the log:

Hi

It could be the files were infected.

Could you open the program and select Quarantine. You can select to restore those two items.

Then go to Start>Run and copy/paste the following into the Run Dialogue box.
mbam.exe /developer

It will produce a log like before. Could you post that log here. And this time, dont take any action on the files until I reply.
I recovered the xmoto file earlier, so it found it again. I guess i'll leave it deleted now and just reinstall it later down the track.

Hi

Im to pass on an apology from the developers of MBAM. It was one of those false positives that do happen. You can safetly restore that XMoto file and they are going to fix the FP.

Go to http://virusscan.jotti.org
Copy the following line into the white textbox:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ODBCJET.exe
Click Submit.
Please post the results of this scan to this thread.
Hi

Ok good.

Warning. Please note that this fix is specific for this poster and should not be used by anyone else:

1. Before we make changes to your registry, we need to make a back up of the key that we are going to work on:
To back up the key please do the following
  • Copy the contents of the Code Box below to Notepad.
  • Name the file export.bat
  • Change the "Save as Type" to All Files
  • and Save it on the desktop
regedit /e C:\export-run.reg "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\shared tools\msconfig\startupreg\ODBCJET"
Double-click the export.bat file
The backup file will be placed in your C:\ directory as export-run.reg .

If there is a fatal error you can simply double click on the export-run.reg you just created to restore the registry to the state it was in before you began.
Warning. Do not click it except if I tell you to do so. Double clicking it will reintroduce the maleware to your computer and can have other unexpected effects.

2. Please do this:
  • Copy the contents of the Code Box below to Notepad.
  • Name the file as fix.reg
  • Change the Save as Type to All Files
  • and Save it on the desktop

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\shared tools\msconfig\startupreg\ODBCJET]

Make sure there are NO blank lines before REGEDIT4
Then double-click on the fix.reg file, and when it prompts to merge say yes.

Congratulations, you appear to be malware free.

Here are two free programs I recommend.

Spybot Search and Destroy
Download it from here . Just choose a mirror and off you go.
Find here the tutorial on how to use Spybot properly here

Install WinPatrol
Download it from here
Here you can find information about how WinPatrol works here

Make sure your Windows is ALWAYS up to date!
An unpatched Windows is vulnerable and even with the "best" Antivirus and Firewall installed, malware will find its way through.
So visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ to download and install the latest updates.

Update your Antivirus programs and other security products regularly to avoid new threats that could infect your system.

Please check out Tony Klein's article "How did I get infected in the first place?"

Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.
