As for the Add/Remove programs thing the programs that are listed on its list have no folders in the program files directory. So yeah it could be a registry issue. He's an independent tech and I might bring this up if I need him to come over for some other reason, but the programs that are not there, but are named on the Add/Remove program list aren't causing me any trouble. This was merely a curiosity I had. And if it was going to be a quick not risky thing to fix I would go ahead and use the program you gave. But it sounds a little complicated and risky.
