Privacy in Danger with the Red Background
3 min read
Sorry to hear about the malware infection on your machine.
If you go here;

You'll find all the information your need to download the HJT installer and post a log so that an expert can review it, analyse the problems in detail and then design a specific fix for you.
Its important that you post the HJT in the right place (not here please in this subforum) as we don't analyse them here.
However if there's any thing you want to ask please come back here and we will do our best to help.
Otherwise its just a case of waiting for an expert on the other forum to respond to you. Those experts, as you can guess are in really high demand and sometimes the number of folks asking for help exceeds the
number of trained malware fighters available, but rest assured they will get to your post as soon as they possibly can.
Best Regards
Kaz.
I've managed to get that annoying little bug that turns your background into the large red biohazard sign saying my privacy is in danger and randomly gives annoying security pop-ups and changes windows for you. I ran a google search for a solution and found this site. I've downloaded the Combofix and Smitfraudfixes and tried to download the AVG antivirus, but it gave me an error message just before I could run its installation. I've tried the whole safe mode , Smitfraud option 2, safe mode, Smitfraud option 3, restart and run the combofix, as was recommended in other topics, but the stupid thing keeps coming back. I've manged to keep it at bay by deleting the explorer process and restarting it through the task manager, which stops it for a while, but it keeps coming back. Can you guys help me?
Much appreciated,
Deer717
Haven't had that happen but I would try installing and running the follow anti spy ware engines: Spy bot: Search and destroy, SUPER Antispyware, Spyware terminator, & if you get a hold of a serial number, zone alarm pro (win 2000 & xp only).
if you get a hold of a serial number, zone alarm pro (win 2000 & xp only).
Ben T,
I hope you're not suggesting what I think you are.
I know you're trying to help but there are some forum rules.
One rule is not to post into anothers topic.
Another is suggesting something that could cause more harm. What you suggested won't do any harm but at the same time won't fix the infection Deer717 has.
