Hi to the forum. Have recently had problems, eventually traced to Dropper.Agent.GIT and other Trojans. Having fun with them disabling my AVG and SpybotSD. Ended up here reading several of the postings. It looks as if the standard dance is HijackThis, SDFix, ComboFix, with specific advice from forum advisors. I have downloaded all of the programs necessary and read all of the existing threads, and think I am ready to proceed, but: Somewhere in the process of fighting the infection, either something that the malware did or something that I did has killed Safe Mode for me. I get a Stop error with message IRQL_NOT_GREATER_OR_EQUAL (or very similar, don't have it up in front of me right now). Researching this on the web shows it to be one of those really hard-to-diagnose windows problems which may be software or hardware related, and the real obvious fixes that I have tried have not worked. QUESTION: If I am unable to access Safe Mode, is it even worth it to me to pursue a fix here? Or will I be better off nuking it from orbit and reinstalling? Thank you for your help.
