thanx for your tips…I am having great fun learning all this stuff! could have done without the malware lol but they say something good comes out of bad and since I am learning I can help others learn. thanx for the myspace info…just wanted my kids to read it in print from someone important  and I am not it lol. some people think youtube is also a danger, but I tell you I love being able to upload all of my videos to youtube and not have them on my puter just in case of a crash, plus my family all over the world can view them anytime they want! I am hoping with the expertise I learn here that I can help make my family stealth and not so nervous over the children browsing. Computers aren't cheap but there is so much to learn on the internet (which is why I want to block everything but like wikipedia, cartoonnetwork and the like) and up til now the kids have had free reign with gramma or mom and dad that is, to look and research any question they may have. but I digress. okay so far I have deleted most of the programs that I know what they are that I don't use. I am googling the others one at a time to see if it is needed or not. I disabled AOL in the startup menu and disabled avg antispyware but got nervous and reenabled that lol. my puter zips along fast enuff for my liking (under a minute to boot) and besides a hang while avast scans my fav website, I have no other complaints. once I get done with the maintenance you recommended, I AM going to download and install zone alarm again. the 2 grands went home this afternoon and 2 other grands came over and we went to the mall, then this evening visiting with 6 more, so gramma is exhausted. tho it's just me tonite, I am going to relax and watch Cops and Americas Most Wanted, then retire and pick things back up in the a.m. again thanx so much for your advice and time. it's truly appreciated. blessings, Terri oh ps….ain't there always one lol there is a file that avast keeps telling me it can't scan: C:\Program files\Common files\System\pstprx32.dll no other utility has a problem with it and from what I have read it is associated with outlook? I am not worried about it other than it bugs me as to why it's out there. okay poppin off…ta
