Unfortunately, it appears as if the worse case scenario is the one we have to deal with. The file infector has indeed infected most of the executables that started up when your system boots up. Usually the infection leaves some backup copies that our tools can use as replacements. However, in your case, these backups and the infected files were removed prior to you posting your first log so we do not have anything to fall back upon. I will do my best to help clean up what needs to be cleaned on your system but there are numerous files that need to be replaced and several programs to be replaced. First we will do the cleanup. Once I see the results, I will attempt to give you an idea of what has to be replaced.

1. Please open Notepad
  • Click Start , then Run
  • Type notepad .exe in the Run Box.
2. Now copy/paste the entire content of the codebox below into the Notepad window:
File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtqq.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temp\NewYear2008.zip
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temp\removalfile.bat
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\CJK94NO7\loader[2].exe
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\OPQRSTUV\03[1].exe

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\Mtb42.sys]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\Owe86.sys]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\Pwe18.sys]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\Sah28.sys]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\ACNotify]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"Mobipocket Reader Notifications"=-
"SybaseCentral500"=-
"DBISQL10"=-
"Uniblue RegistryBooster 2"=-
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"SynTPEnh"=-
"PMHandler"=-
"Broadcom Wireless Manager UI"=-]
"igfxtray"=-
"igfxhkcmd"=-
"igfxpers"=-
"suScheduler"=-
"OmniPass"=-
"URLLSTCK.exe"=-
"ACTray"=-
"ACWLIcon"=-
"AVG7_CC"=-
"openvpn-gui"=-
"Adobe Photo Downloader"=-
"QuickTime Task"=-

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Save the above as CFScript.txt

4. Now STOP all your monitoring programs (Antivirus/Antispyware, Guards and Shields) as they could easily interfere with ComboFix.

5. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe as depicted in the animation below. This will start ComboFix again.

6. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), please post the following reports/logs into your next reply after you re-enable all the programs that were disabled during the running of ComboFix:
  • Combofix.txt
  • A new HijackThis log.
Please take note:

CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.
Hi, i was wondering if i wanted to send something, will the file be infected? Here are the log files:

B. Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. A malicious site could render Java content under older, vulnerable versions of Sun's software if the user has not removed them. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 3 and save it to your desktop.
  • Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u3…allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Read the License Agreement and then check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save the file to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, double-click on and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check (highlight) any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u3-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Now to Clean out the Java cache:

Go into the Control Panel and double-click the Java Icon.
  • Under Temporary Internet Files, click the Delete Files button.
  • There are three options in the window to clear the cache - Leave ALL 3 Checked
    • Downloaded Applets
      Downloaded Applications
      Other Files
  • Click OK on Delete Temporary Files Window
    Note: This deletes ALL the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the CACHE.
  • Click OK to leave the Java Control Panel.

C. Please provide a list of uninstallable programs.

To Provide a List of Installed Programs
  • Run HijackThis.
  • Click Config>>Miscellaneous Tools>>Open Uninstall Manager>>Save List
  • Save list to Desktop
  • Copy the Notepad list and Paste it into this thread.

D. Now, please run HijackThis and post the log with your reply. Please tell me how things are currently running other than a few programs that may not be working properly.

i think one of my problem would be that i could not access some websites which i normally can access. thanks
The Vundo file infector has seriously damaged some of the programs/drivers on your system. All of the following programs/files have been damaged by the file infector and could not replaced. Where possible I have indicated what program/driver sets that they belong to. If you want these back, you must first be sure that you have a copy of the program/driver ready to install, THEN UNINSTALL the affected program/driver, finally reinstalling the good copy. This is specially important where your Broadcom connectivity programs are involved.

Let's make sure that all the malware has been killed. I will need you to run another online Antivirus scan. Please post the log when finished.

Please use the Eset NOD32 Online Anti-Virus scanner and Removal Tool

Note: This tool requires the use of Internet Explorer and is Vista compatible

Please click HERE to start the process
  • Place a checkmark in the box beside "Terms of Service", then click "Start".
  • On the next scree, "Click" where prompted to install the required ActiveX Control.
  • Acknowledge the Security Warning in the next window by Clicking the "Install" button.
  • Press the "START" button on the Welcome Screen.
  • A download progress bar will then inform you on the status of your download.
  • Once the initialization is complete, place a checkmark beside "Remove found threats", then click "Scan".
  • When the tool has finished, under the Details Tab, you will find a list of items found and deleted.
  • No log will be made available for posting in your reply.

    • Choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
    • Uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
    • Close the window with ok

  • Please RUN HijackThis.
    . Click the SCAN button to produce a log.

  • Place a check mark beside each one of the following items:

    F3 - REG:win.ini: load=C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtqq.exe
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {88437C88-50A7-4D6D-92EB-39AA943CFDDD} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtqq.dll (file missing)

  • Now with all the items selected, and all windows closed except for HJT, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button. Close the HijackThis window.
