Hey there,

here is my problem, my Internet Explorer 7 keeps showing me the "cannot display the webpage" message, i manage to install Netscape 8 and everything works just fine, shows any site without problems, the problem starts with the "limit or no connectivity" issue, but after some search i found Winsockxpfix and that corrects the IP problem, now i just cant work around about IE7 issue.

i want to thank in advance for any reply/help that could get.... really thank you guys.

Hi Enrique Guillen R:
We have to clean up:
Netsvcs.exe is
:W32/Agobot-FP worm
I would like to know if you did this part:

Set your system to show all files; here is how to do this.
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab.
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.
NEXT
Press Control-Alt-Del to enter the Task Manager.

Click on the Processes tab and end the following processes:
NETSVCS.EXE
Exit the Task Manager when finished.

was theNETSVCS.EXE there?
If you did fine cause this baddie is hiding and we will get it.
Well at any rate I am going to list some things to do. I want you to not fret, we will get it taken care of.
Some of these things will take awhile, thats okay you need a break.
Let’s check for Malware/Spyware on your computer which is best dealt with by spyware-removal programs used one after the other.

Spybot: Search and Destroy:

1.Download 'Spybot: Search And Destroy'. Get it here:
http://projects.secu...load.php?file=2
2. Install it according to the instructions in 'How To Setup Spybot SD and Ad-Aware SE'. Get it here:http://www.tomcoyote.org/aawsb.php
3. Next, 'Search for Updates' as the definitions are not likely to be up-to-date.
4. Close ALL windows except Spybot SD
5. Click the "Check for Problems" button
6. Click 'Fix Selected Problems' and fix only the RED items.
7. REBOOT to finish removing what Spybot SD found and clear memory

NEXT:
======
Ad-Aware SE by Lavasoft:

1. Download 'Ad-Aware SE'. Get it here:
http://www.download....0...&tag=button
2. Install according to the instructions in "How To Setup Spybot SD and Ad-Aware SE" Get it here:
http://www.tomcoyote.org/aawsb.php
3. Next, 'Check for Updates' by clicking on the 'world globe' second from the right at the top of your Ad-Aware SE window.
4. Install the updates.
5. Close ALL windows except Ad-Aware SE
6. Click on 'Start' and choose 'full scan' for a full scan.
7. Quarantine anything that it finds and SAVE the log file.
8.REBOOT to finish removing what Ad-Aware SE found and clear memory.

Please let me know if anything can not be cleaned by these utilities.
Again if any questions please ask.
NEXT:
Once these are done do this next:
Close all windows and reboot to safe mode.
while in safe mode do:
Run Hijack This again!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these items
(I don't know why these were here, I had them on the list for HJT to fix.
We will try these again)

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe,C:\WINDOWS\system32\NETSVCS.EXE

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
[b]NEXT:

reboot to normal mode.
While in normal mode do a search for these two:
(not to worry if not found)
If found then delete the red files only not the folder C:\WINDOWS\system32
C:\WINDOWS\system32\[b]NETSVCS.EXE(file)
C:\WINDOWS\system32\[b]DisMgnt.exe (file)
There will be more to do we are getting there.
Post a new HJT log and I will read it and get things ready to do
Good luck mschroe919

P.S. is it any special installation mode ?? cause i cant find the "how to setup" guides....

Hi,Enrique Guillen R:
Your log is looking better allready, just a few more steps.

While TeaTimer is an excellent tool for the prevention of spyware, it can sometimes prevent HijackThis from fixing certain things.
Please disable TeaTimer for now until you are clean. TeaTimer can be re-activated once your HijackThis log is clean.

* Open Spybot Search & Destroy.
* In the Mode menu click "Advanced mode" if not already selected.
* Choose "Yes" at the Warning prompt.
* Expand the "Tools" menu.
* Click "Resident".
* Uncheck the "Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings) active." box.
* In the File menu click "Exit" to exit Spybot Search & Destroy.
================================================================
NEXT:
Lets do a on line scan
if something can't be cleaned make note of it and let me know
do the scan here:
http://support.f-sec.../home/ols.shtml
=============================================

NEXT:
Lets try something here to speed up your PC.

First:

Please download System Security Suite. here.
http://www.igorshpak.net/

Extract it from the zip file into a folder.

Run 3S under “Items To Clear” tab place a checkmark in all of them but the last.

Reboot and Rescan with HJT and post a new log here.

Also please describe how your computer behaves now.

There will be more to do when I see the next post. Some things to keep your PC clean

Your doing well
Good luck mschroe919

as i said everything is back to normal, the only thing is that is getting to much time at startup, but really nothing that worries me that much as IE issue.

Hi Enrique Guillen R:

You can pat yourself on the back you did a terrific job cleaning up your pc
If you follow and do all on this lis you are in for a clean PC
==================================
First off when I posted last post I was going to tell you then instead of looking better it was cured.
But I didn't want to say till I see this last log.
===========================================
I may be a little slow today, but I am not sure what you mean:

one last thing that i just found, it only renew IP at startup, once started it denies to renew, have to boot so it can renew

==============================================
DOING THE NEXT STEP WILL INCREASE YOUR SPEED EVEN MORE>>>>
I just noticed you have C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 2007. Are you using the free one?
If so I suggest going to add/ remove and un installing it. The recomended one Adware
This one takes a lot of resourses, and the recomended one was the one I suggested you install:

Ad-Aware SE by Lavasoft:

1. Download 'Ad-Aware SE'. Get it here:
http://www.download....0...&tag=button

if you install and use this one you are better off and it doesn't slow your PC.
========================================
Now that your PC is clean I am going to give you my canned all clean message.
.
Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

Note you may have some of theses programs allready, if so just a reminder to keep updated.

FIRST:
You need to create a new Clean restore point.

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Turn off System Restore:

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Restart your computer, turn it back on.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Remove the Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Check "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, Uncheck "Show hidden files and folders."
Check "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.
===================================================================
NEXT:
Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:

1. From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
2. Click once on the Security tab
3. Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
4. Click once on the Custom Level button.

1. Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
2. Change theDownload unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
3. Change the Initialise and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
4. Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
5. Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
6. Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
7. When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
8. If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.

Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.
====================================================================

Use an Anti Virus Software
It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future. See these links for a listing of some on line & their stand-alone anti virus programs:
If you don't have one here are some of the better AV products.

Symantec/Norton Antivirus: http://www.symantec.com/nav/nav_9xnt/
Kapersky AV: http://www.kaspersky...ne.html?info=25
Nod32 : http://www.nod32.com/home/home.htm
Panda AV: http://www.pandasoftware.com/
McAfee Virusscan: http://us.mcafee.com...e.asp?pkgid=100
AVG Anti-Virus (Free version available) http://www.grisoft.com/

Update your Anti Virus Software - It is imperitive that you update your Anti virus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your anti virus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.
============================================================
NEXT:

Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is susceptible to being hacked and taken over. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.
If you don't have one see link below for a free firewall:

ZoneAlarm:
http://www.zonelabs.....jsp?lid=nav_za

Sunbelt Kerio:
http://www.sunbelt-s...e.com/Kerio.cfm

OutPost:
http://www.agnitum.c...ee/download.php
================================================================================

Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option.

This will provide real-time spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an anti virus software

Get the download and tutorial for Spybot S&D here:
http://www.bleepingc...tutorial43.html
=========================================================================

Install Ad-Aware
Install and download Ad-Aware. You should also scan your computer with the program on a regular basis just as you would an anti virus software in conjunction with Spybot. The download and tutorial on installing & using Ad-aware can be found here:
http://www.bleepingc...tutorial48.html

====================================================================

Install SpywareBlaster
SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs. A article on anti-malware products with links for this program and others can be found here:

http://www.javacools...areblaster.html
========================================================================

Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.

Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.
Happy surfing the net

I only ask one thing....please
Please post back and let us know what you think about our forum, we are all volunteers and would like a little smile.
