My computer has been a bit slow for along time, and never really took the time to fix it since it wouldnt help much. Well i turned it off, the next time i turned it on, came up to a registry_error. I tryed all different mods, everything that the computer could do its self and nothing worked. Then i got the boot disk that came with it, and when i hit install windows xp or fix existing, it gets a registry error. Then after all this, the boot disk stop working, goes from the dell loading screen (one right as you start computer) to a black screen with press F1 to reboot and F2 to set utilities, nothing else. IF i hit F1 it just displays the message again, and F2 is to BIOS and it doesnt help me. Anything i can do to make it work, or run disk scanner or something on it, since it barely turns on at the molment.
Have you tried going in under Safe Mode or using Last Known Good Configuration?

To get to Safe Mode, you want to tap the F8 button just after the logo screen. If it is not too corrupted, you might be able to get the Safe Mode menu. My first step would be trying the Last Known Good Configuration.

If you are unable to get into that menu, you will need something stronger. There is a program called ERD Commander, from Winternals (now Microsoft). If you are computer savvy, you could use that to investigate further. :(

See the article on Registry Cleaners on the Start Page. I would not try and use one of them just for those reasons.

Good luck.

How old is the computer? It sounds like the hard drive may have gone bad. When you get to BIOS setup, does the hard drive show up there? If not then it's kaput. If you know the manufacturer of the hard drive, you can go to their web site and download their drive utility program. It's normally available as a diskette image or CD iso file. It will probably be a Seagate, Maxtor or Western Digital though there are some Samsung and Toshiba drives around. If you don't know the manufacturer, you can open the computer case and remove the hard drive to get the manufacturers name. Once you have the drive utility, boot it and run the drive test. It will tell you if the drive is good or bad. Post back if you need help finding the right utility program.
