screensavers

does anyone know of any screensavers/wallpapers that dont contain any kind of surprises in them. i think that most that are found on searches are the ones that really screw up my comp.

There are choices for screensavers if you rightclick your desktop>>properties>>screensaver tab>>

Why not set you power settings while you are there>>click on Power button bottom right>> and save power enabling your Monitor, Hard Disk or Standby options if you are not using your computer. I myself do not use screensavers as I read around the forums that they use so much power and don't actually save a thing.

Your choice however, but the above is my opinion,

i wasnt really looking to save power. i had some festive ones on my pc before i reformatted then after i no longer have them. i dont remember where i got them. i know the ones that zango and freeze have are chock full of surprises . and christmas and halloween are the only time i use them. kind of like a conversation piece or at least something to keep my kids entertained, other than that i dont use them.

You are correct to be skeptical of free-screensaver offerings on the Internet.
Much like offers of "free ringtones" or "free smiley" or "free song lyrics", these offers are generally "commercially driven" and contain adware components, and sometimes spyware/malware components.

So who do you trust?

For years I used an old free version of Graphic Workshop to kick in a slide show of family photos when away from my desk.

i used to make my own holiday slide shows but they got kind of boring from time to time. i ended up getting ahold of one of my old friends (he lives somewhere in asia now) but he used to know how to clean out garbage from programs without destroying the integrity of the program. But this seems like a good topic since alot of companies I've noticed have picked up on the advertising of "FREE CHRISTMAS/HOLIDAY SCREENSAVERS" and animated wallpapers etc. I would like to keep this one rolling if possible. I did however, find some free cursors without extra "goodies"

Mr. Droid, OK on the interest in finding various screensaver resources. But we won't be doing any "rolling" on the topic of cracking programs…. Even it is supposedly to make them safer. Just so you know, this is a no-crack zone.

i wasnt meaning to keeping it on cracking. just keeping it on malware and spyware on harmless looking progs. i assume thats where most people get their unwanted "junk"ware, that and by accepting cookies from sites and then boom a message appears "YOU ARE INFECTED! DOWNLOAD OUR JUNKWARE SO WE CAN REALLY MESS UP YOUR SYSTEM" or something of that nature. thats where i get most of mine now even when i deny a cookie setting the still manage to try to put their garbage in my pc. just wanting to keep on topic of holiday screen savers and such. i know im not the only one who downloads them. **as for cracking …. its something i do in my time and for my amusement. i dont do it as a favor or for profit.. sorry about the confusion, that wasnt my focus for this thread.
