Hello all,

My computer has been taken over by a nasty virus that keeps flashing a little yellow triangle in the lower left hand corner of the screen, as well as popups that say I have been infected by a "black door trojan" and another worm as well.

Here is the Hijackthis log… If anyone could help, I would be eternally grateful.

Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

jimbonyc,

Welcome to the forum, I need you to do a few things before we proceed.

  • Go to Start> Run and type in services.msc then press Enter
  • Scroll down to VundoFix Service
  • Double Click that service to open it.
  • Click on Stop Service.
  • Then change the Startup Type to Disabled.
  • OK your way out of the program.

  • Open HJT > Misc Tools > Delete an NT Service
  • Type in VundoFixSvc
  • Then click on OK, it will ask you to reboot, do so.

Now go to Start> Run and type in msconfig and hit OK, on the General Tab, make sure Normal Startup is selected or it could be hiding things from showing up on your log.

C:\Program Files\Hijackthis <– Go here and delete the whole folder and here is the link and instructions for the new version by Trendmicro

Download Trendmicros Hijackthis to your desktop.
Double click it to install
Follow the prompts and by default it will install in C:\Program Files\Trendmicro\Hijackthis\Highjackthis.exe

This is important , do this and post a new Hijackthis log
C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe<– Right click on Hijackthis.exe ( looks like a man with a spyglass ) and rename it to Scanner.exe

  • Open HJT ( now Scanner.exe )Scan and Save a Log File, it will open in Notepad
  • Go to Format and make sure Wordwrap is Unchecked
  • Go to Edit> Select All…..Edit > Copy and Paste the new log into this thread by using the Post Reply and not start a New Thread.
DO NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
