[Closed] being attacked by savetheinformation

hi there,

i am being attacked by something from savetheinformation.com (i have never been to that site and i do not know where this thing came from) . It hijacks my IE on opening, keeps giving me false pop-ups, including the little yellow warning triangle that blinks and sends me messages about all the trojans savetheinformation can save me from. i also have two icons that this thing added to my desktop and also to my menu, one of which is live security center and the other is called online security guide. i have tried system restores and deleting these icons but nothing has been working. i have been looking around this site and found someone who had the same problem and it appears as though they were able to resolve it. can someone please help me do the same? here is a link to the other persons resolved question http://forums.whatthetech.com/savetheinfor…ack_t84596.html

[Assisting in IRC]

Hi

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HijackThis log.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.

Close all applications and windows.
Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt in your reply.

LimeWire
You have LimeWire, a P2P/file sharing programs installed on your computer. P2P applications like it are the largest source of malware we see. You'll be doing yourself a favor by removing it.

I would recommend that you uninstall LimeWire, however that choice is up to you. If you choose to remove these programs, y
u can do so via Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs.

If you wish to keep it, please do not use it until your computer is cleaned.

Backup Your Registry with ERUNT

Please use the following link and scroll down to ERUNT and download it.

For version with the Installer:
Use the setup program to install ERUNT on your computer
For the zipped version:
Unzip all the files into a folder of your choice.

Click Erunt.exe to backup your registry to the folder of your choice.

Note:to restore your registry, go to the folder and start ERDNT.exe

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, right click inside the listbox (white box) and click add more files
Copy&Paste the entries below:
- C:\WINDOWS\system32\rpqvtxsp.dll
- C:\WINDOWS\system32\gebyw.dll
Click Add Files and Click Close Window
Click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
Turn your computer back on.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Please do this:

Copy the contents of the Code Box below to Notepad.
Name the file as fix.reg
Change the Save as Type to All Files
and Save it on the desktop

Hi

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Follow this link in Internet Explorer (Note: You must use Internet explorer to use Kaspersky): Kaspersky WebScanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky,
Click Yes.

The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
Now click on Scan Settings
In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:
o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
o Scan Options:
Scan Archives Scan Mail Bases
Click OK
Now under select a target to scan:
Select My Computer
The program will start and scan your system.
The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
o Now click on the Save as Text button:
Save the file to your desktop.

Please post the results of the Kaspersky scan in your next reply, along with a fresh HijackThis log.
