Yesterday Norton Internet Security detected Adware.SystemProcess on my PC. The NIS popup said the problem was "resolved." I ran NAV immediately and nothing else was detected. However, NAV scan today detected this malware again and reported it resolved. There is no obvious signs of trouble other than the scan result. Do I need to do take further action to clean my PC? I use Norton Internet Security. Over the weekend NIS detected Adware.SystemProcess on my PC a couple of times. In both instances, NIS reported the problem was "resolved" and I have not detected any other problems since. However the Symantec website reports this malware is particularly difficult to remove and has high stealth. I looked in my PC's registry for any sign of the signature registry changes but could not find anything. What can I do to ensure this malware has indeed been removed? Please reply to this thread only and not start any new topics.

• Your Java is out of date and leaving your system vulnerable.
• Go to your Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall any previous versions of Java (J2SE Runtime Environment)
• It should have an icon next to it:
  
  Select it and click Remove.
• Reboot your system.
• Then go to the Sun Microsystems and install the update
• Java Runtime Environment Version 6 Update 3 <--This is what you need to download and install.
• If you chose the online installation, it will prompt you to run the program.
• If you chose the offline installation, you will be prompted to save the file and you can run it from wherever you saved it.
• Then after install you can verify your installation here Sun Java Verify

I like to to do the offline installation and save the setup file in case I may need it in the future



Your log is fine If you want to double check, run this free online virus scanner from Panda and post the report.

Run Panda's ActiveScan and perform a full system scan. This will only run with Internet Explorer

• Once you are on the Panda site click the "Scan your PC" button
• A new window will open...click the big "Check Now" button
• Enter your Country
• Enter your State/Province
• Enter your e-mail address and click send
• Select either Home User or Company
• Click the big Scan Now button
• If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
• It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It will take a couple minutes)
• If you are on a slow connection it will take about 15 minuites for the scanner to load.
• Click on "Local Disks" to start the scan
• Once scan is done, click "see report" then "save report"
• Save the log someplace you can find
• Reboot
• Post the Panda scan results in your next reply

Ken, Thanks for the response. Much appreciated. I updated Java. Also ran a Pande scan. It found some stuff but not sure if this is serious. Results below. • Win Patrol This program will warn you when any changes are being made to your system and give
  you the option to deny the change.
  
• IE-Spyad
  IE-Spyad places over 4000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads
  (cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  
• Firefox 2.0 It has more features and is a lot more secure than IE. It is a very easy and
  painless download and install, it will no way interfere with IE, you can use them both.
  
• Zone Alarm Here is a free Firewall from Zone Labs, I
  wouldn't access the internet without it.
