Hi
I keep getting recurring programs everytime I turn on my computer and the number of kb keeps going up. I have tried various programs to remove them but nothing seems to happen. I do not have the original software for this computer because my wife got it and thought is was a bargain, what a bargain. I just ran HiJackThis and here are the results.

Hello and Welcome to the forum.

I suggest you do this:

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

click Start> Run> type in Msconfig tap enter key.
look in the Startup.
Uncheck these:
TkBellExe <–Real Player Update
qttask.exe <– QuickTime Player
ymetray.exe <–Yahoo! Music Jukebox

After you uncheck it and rebooting, you'll be using Selective startup.
When you see the box popup that tells you that, just put a Check in the Box to not show that when you startup. That's how I run mine.

Next:

1.Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2.Next, open Add/Remove Programs and remove if listed:
Ad-Aware 2007 <–You have Ad-Aware SE Plus. Keep that.

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a checkmark/tick in the box on the left side on these:

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.

Thanks for the reply and help. I followed the information that you gave me. I did another HiJackTHis log and this is what I received/

I am not sure how to get TkBellExe off my computer. Should I just do a complete cleaning of my computer? When I go to the Controls of the computer and try to remove certain items, some items are not listed but are listed in my program files. Is it possible that I have been hijacked by someone and cannot use my computer.

I am not sure how to get TkBellExe off my computer.

If you unchecked it with Msconfig, it won't load.

Please disable Ad-Watch, as it may hinder the removal of some HijackThis entries. You can re-enable it after your computer is clean.

To disable Ad-Watch:

1. Right click on the Ad-Watch icon in the system tray and select "Restore Ad-Watch".
2. At the bottom of the screen there will be two checkable items called "Active" and "Automatic".Active: Switches Monitoring On or Off without closing
Automatic: Switches Automatic Blocking On or Off
3. Uncheck (red X) both items.

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a checkmark/tick in the box on the left side on these:

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Thank you for the assistant. I was not able to disable my Ad-ware and it seems that I have a lot of hidden files that I cannot access through the add/remove program. I am still having the problems of not removing the TkBellExe from my computer. I am thinking of reinstalling my original computer information, but not sure if I should save everything. I want to make a donation but want to clean up my computer before I do that. Here is the lastest result of running HJT.
