Hi there, it's been a while since I was last here when you guys srted out the last problem I had. Well, something has happened again. I run F-Secure Internet Security 2007 and a alert came up 'You have virus in your computer'. I cannot remember to full name but it began Trojan…. I tried to disinfect my pc but F_secure said 'sorry, can't do that, but I will rename it.' Suffice to say I don't know what has happened and am unsure about sending hotmails to friends/work as I don't want to spread an infection. I am very sorry about the lack of details but please can you check the log and let me know how best to proceed.

Here it is then:

Howdy darreno,

No infection showing here. It really would have been helpful if you had recalled the name of the file F-Secure removed, since we wouldn't know if it was a false positive (a legit file mistaken as infection) or a bad one needing our attention. Since it was suggested as a trojan type file let's see what a different scan might say here.

Go here and run the Kaspersky online scan, and post back the log it creates (it requires IE).

To use the scan, once the download has completed click Scan Settings, then make sure the "extended option" is checked (leave all others as they are) and click OK. Then click My Computer to begin the scan. Save the Report as a text file and post that back here.

To save it as a text file, still with the page in Internet Explorer, go to the top of the page and select File - Save As… Then make sure in the "Save as type" drop down you change it to "Text File(*.txt)".
