Can someone help with this problem. Whenever I log onto an unsecured wireless network (like at a coffeeshop) as soon as I open Outlook to check mail, my computer starts trying to send a bajillion emails to addresses not in my address book. Norton starts andless popups telling an email was blocked from going out because my server rejected it. I have to shut down to stop it. It doesn't happen at home on my own secure wireless network, but it happens on any unsecured network.

A week ago I had a norton popup alert that I an attempt by vedx6game27.exe was trying to attack. A Norton log history shows that since October 31, 2007 that Norton either fully removed or blocked or partial removal of Bloodhound.SONAR.1, Trojan.Peacomm.B, an unspecified Downloader,Trojan.Busky and later that Norton did not attempt to remove C:\WINDOWS\system32\newmaxxsv234.exe or C:\WINDOWS\mrofinu27.exe. Yet even now when I run a scan with Norton or Pareto Logic no virus or spyware shows up.
Any help is much appreciated.

OK, it's been a week and no replies or offers of help. I have a spambot. Norton can't find or fix it –especially after a $99.95 session with their tech support. Is there anyone around who has had one of these.

It only starts when I lig on to an unsecured wireless network. My compoter tries to send hundreds (maybe thousands) of emails to addresses I've never seen and my screen starts to fill with Norton security messages that emails can't be sent for various problem numbers 1003.7 1003.9, 1003.10 1003.11 All the crack Norton tech support could say was I had some sort of Proxy email virus or spybot.

Has anyone else had this problem. Does anyone have any idea how to fix it.

It does not ever happen when I log on to my secure wireless network at home, but if I switch to a nearby unsecured network, the problem starts up.

I will attach my latest Hi Jack This Log just in case…

Someone please take a look or just tell me it's hopeless or something. Is anybody there?

Hello and welcome to the Forum

* Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:
ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/drweb-cureit.exe
  • Doubleclick the drweb-cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
  • This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
  • Once the short scan has finished, mark the drives that you want to scan.
  • Select all drives. A red dot shows which drives have been chosen.
  • Click the green arrow at the right, and the scan will start.
  • Click 'Yes to all' if it asks if you want to cure/move the file.
  • When the scan has finished, look if you can click next icon next to the files found: [external image: Posted Image]
  • If so, click it and then click the next icon right below and select Move incurable as you'll see in next image:
    [external image: Posted Image]
This will move it to the %userprofile%\DoctorWeb\quarantaine-folder if it can't be cured. (this in case if we need samples)
  • After selecting, in the Dr.Web CureIt menu on top, click file and choose save report list
  • Save the report to your desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
  • Close Dr.Web Cureit.
  • Reboot your computer!! Because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot.
  • After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web you saved previously in your next reply.
LDTate: Thank you for the guidence. I followed your instructions, downloaded and ran Dr. Cureit. I had one big problem the first time. When I tried to save the first DrCureit.csv, I immediately got a blue screen of death message: IRQ_LESS_OR_EQUAL and a current memory dump. I reran DrCureit this morning and got the following report: svchost.exe;C:\WINDOWS\system32\svcd;Probably DLOADER.Trojan;Incurable.Moved.; On the first run lastnight there were several more problems found. For some reson I happened to write down two of them. The first one was the svchost you see above, and the other one was C:\WINDOWS\system\BAckDoor.IRC.Sdbot.origin; incurable. I assume since it did not show up on the report I got this morning, it was taken care of. I hope this information helps. Again, thanks for your help.
I suggest you do this:

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time.

Next:

Download ComboFix from Here to your Desktop.
  • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you, combofix.txt. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick while its running. That may cause it to stall
Per your request, here are the two logs. I think you may have solved my problem because I have been in an unsecure wireless network for a few minutes and no Norton email popups yet.

Here's my usual all clean post

Log looks good :D

You need to create a new Clean restore point.

Note: This will remove all previous Restore Points

Click Start Menu > Run > copy and paste

%SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe

Press OK. Choose Create a Restore Point then click Next. Name it (something you'll remember) and click Create, when the confirmation screen shows the restore point has been created click Close.

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Check "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, Uncheck "Show hidden files and folders."
Check "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.
  • Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:
    • From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
    • Click once on the Security tab
    • Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
    • Click once on the Custom Level button.
      • Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
      • Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
      • Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
      • Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
      • Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
      • Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
      • When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
      • If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
    • Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.
  • Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperative that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week
(Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

  • Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer.
Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over.
I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients.
Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.

For a tutorial on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below:

    Understanding and Using Firewalls

  • Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly.
This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer.
If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site
until there are no more critical updates.

  • Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option.
This will provide realtime spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection.
You should also scan your computer with this program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Using Spybot - Search & Destroy to remove Spyware , Malware, and Hijackers
  • Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will add a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer
settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware

  • IE-SPYAD puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.

Using IE-SPYAD to help block unwanted sites and activities

  • Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly.
Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.
Only run one Anti-Virus and Firewall program.
